I was leaving my shop and I heard a loud smack and then this little falcon and a pigeon slammed into the ground in front of me.
I ran to my truck and got my camera and he didn't even flinch.
He hit that pigeon like a missile!
I guess he was too hungry or stunned from the impact to worry about me at the time. After a few minutes he flew away with his feathered rat meal.

Pigeons are the rats of the sky, perhaps next to seagulls.

I'll take a hawk over a pigeon any day. I hope it goes to feed many baby hawks.

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).

The pigeon population in the city here is becoming a problem.

The falcons are doing all they can to control them.

The jackass that shot the hawk i rescued didn't hepl the problem any.

Anyways I feel so lucky to be able to film this and show y'all.

so if it came down to it, you'd rather be sitting on a park bench, surrounded by hungry hawks?

pigeons eat almost anything (they dont eat paper but will peck at any food clinging to it) and have few predators. they can multiply and end up surrounding you while you sit at a park bench.

iirc hawks are territorial, and they eat specific prey. assuming they have a population boom and kill off all the pigeon, they will very quickly die off. it's not possible to be surrounded by hawks.

*ok .. it's possible, but not very likely

People all over Europe and North Africa eat pigeons and doves, albeit not of the rat variety. I love North African pigeon pie.

I saw a similar thing a couple of years back in a small park in London, a very young and small Falcon repeatedly attacking a huge pigeon. That little bird had guts.

I've had farm raised pigeon in a really swank restaurant (the restaurant had its own farm, and it was served in a yummy truffle sauce) in Paris. It was delicious. There were other Americans present, and the consensus was:

Pigeons can be tasty!
