my last ipod i have been using for the last 3 months came face to face with a christmas ipod today, things were obvious.

both looked exactly the same, until i put them next to each other.

being the exact same model & design i expected them to look the same, but when i put them together the newer ones are really improved in so many little ways on the smallest levels, but all are definately for the best.

a 4g ipod from 2-3 months ago seriously lacks in the "usability" that the newest ipods do.

the newest ones seem just a little more sturdy, the trackpad is much more precise, and it just seems a little bit heavier

I love my mini compared to the full blown iPod... I'd love the larger HD. But the mini just fits in your hand better.

The drive on my 4 G 20 gig died 1.5 weeks before christmas. Good thing it was still under warranty. I got a new/refurbed on from Apple. Then Christmas came along and I won an iPod Photo. I gave my 1.5 week old iPod to my brother for christmas.

Couldn't have had anything to do with the fact that you've been using yours for 3 months...
