Alright, so now I'm REALLY bored. I've had two weeks off from teaching and I have nothing I really have to do besides some planning, which isn't exactly my idea of a good time on New Years. Most of my friends are now either in a serious relationship (don't like to be a third wheel) or moved away. Most of my single friends got the smart idea to travel, so they're out having fun. And I'm stuck at home for the second year in a row with absolute nothing to do. Any suggestions?

Find a single girl in a similar predicament and take her out for dinner. Easy.

Head down to a club, get plyed with drink, and just see where the night takes you.

My day will consist of trying to shovel snow just to get "out". There is 3 feet of snow outside... I don't know if I can drive anywhere right now. It might be an "early night" if it doesn't get cleaned up.

Go to a gay bar and check to see if you are homosexual. You'll meet a ton of new friends and learn something about yourself at the same time.

Winner!

But, seriously, there are tons of parties tonight. Find one, put on your best cologne ™ and hit it ™. If you can't find one where you know someone there, crash one. Tell them you know John and he told you about the party (there's always John involved).

Good luck, dude.

Drive into Chicago and go to a lounge bar (no 'pickup bars' bc girls will have their guard up) where people your age would hang out. Most women will not stay in on new year's, so there's a chance you'll meet a girl who's a third wheel with another group. Make your own fun and don't bitch about not having something to do. Don't be a wuss.

edit: and you have the ultimate opener so you shouldn't be afraid to talk to anyone in the bar. You were 'stranded' on NYE for christ's sake. Make a big deal about it and you'll get sympathy 'tang as a last resort.

I followed this example and wound up dancing and making out with a vivacious girl. Good precedence to start the new year.
