Looks like anything that isn't Microsoft is becoming more and more irrelevant on the web.

These are the warnings I receive when I try to watch a news feed on these major So Cal TV sites:

www.nbc4.tv

Thank you for visiting NBC4.TV FeedRoom. You have been redirected to this page for the following reason(s):

NBC4.TV FeedRoom is not yet optimized for your
operating system and/or browser.

You may still enter the site, but you may not have our intended NBC4.TV FeedRoom experience.
A search of the system requirements turns up that the Mac is not supported. This site used to work with Safari and RealPlayer like a charm.

www.cbs2.com

Warning - Due to conflicts between Windows Media Player and the Netscape 6 family of browsers, Netscape 6+ users are unable to play video on this site at this time.
It didn't help trashing IE 5.2.3. I'm sure it wouldn't have worked anyway.

Edit: Nope.

www.abc7.com

I get redirected to this... http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/features...elp.html?video

This doesn't help in getting my other PC friends to switch over. Some of the new Mac users I helped switch also complain about Windows-only sites or unsupported video. Switching the user agent doesn't help either (though it does work for some sites sometimes).

I'd assume all you need is the correct plugin or codec and it should work fine. Otherwise change your user agent. You have to change it BEFORE you get the warning and are kicked out (CBS closes the window, dont know bout the rest) so it can reload with the new agent. For instance I got on CBS but only audio works.
