But mine's dust free from regular use?
I've been looking forward to ResEvil 4 for quite some time now. I hated the old controls, but I had friend who lucked out with a press pass to a Nintendo conference in Toronto back in November, and he assured me that the controls were much better. Aside from that, the previews have been drool-worthy for a zombie fan such as myself, and the fact that there are no longer those silly load times between rooms is a definite plus.

I have a GameCube on loan (with two games: Zelda WW and teh Cart game) from my boss's 18 year old who doesn't play games anymore (!). It's my first console since the original Ninentdo console.
I've played Zelda, which while it blew my mind at times, was easy for a total non gamer like me. Or relatively easy since I beat it after a couple of curse-filled weeks.
I'm tired of Mario Cart and have been mulling over buying an actual game. This looks nice. But they all look nice to me in the store.
I like the Wolverine/Juggernaut character though.

Got Prince of Persia: Warrio Within for the Cube over Christmas. Havent played it a whole lot, but i love the second-gen look-n-feel of it. very polished. definately lookinf forward to getting Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime Echoes and the next Zelda. For a ccasual gamer like me, thats just the right release cycle .
Cheers.
PS: RE4 is next on my list. When's it going to be released ?

You didn't play the original Prince games, everyone said this new one was a step down. Prime is also rather meh as it has nothing new.
At any rate RE4 comes out the 11th.

Well yeah i didnt play the sands of time, but i watched my roommate play it and finish it. It looked great, but how should i put it....the textures lacked detail...so much so that the environments looked too 'clean', and color coordinated...maybe it was just a lack of polish. just my opinion though. And i guess some ppl were a bit disappointed with the more adult nature of the Warrior Within. But i love it so far. And as far as Metroid Prime Echoes goes.... so far most of the game sites have given it rave reviews. i loved etroid Prime, so i might even end up getting echoes in the near future when the prices come down.
Cheers.

I cant wait for this game to hit PS2. A lot of people here slammed this series and this game thinking it would be no better than the rest of the series, but just as I thought they would, Capcom delivered. Kudos to them for all their hard work!

Honestly, I LOVED the last metroid, it was phenomenal. But I wasn't impressed at all with #2.
Part of the problem was it come out the same time as a bunch of hit games for other systems such as Ratchet and Clank 3, Jak 3 and Halo 2. All of which brought something new to the title and were a ton of fun. Metroid 2 had nothing new in terms of gameplay.
The thing that also really got me about the game was the play control, with the old one I thought locking to enemies was ok but after playing Halo 2 I found the control on Halo to be 10x more accurate. With Metroid 2 most of the enemys jump behind you causing you to lose your lock so you are constantly having to find them and lock on again and not actually taking the time to shoot. The cutscenes in the game also looked like they came from supernintendo and some were even slide shows, I hated them.
I got about 30% of the way through the game and shelved it as the dark world was more annoying than fun. Tons of other things that I couldn't stand about the game that I wont mention here so I figured I have many other games I would rather be playing and haven't looked back.

I think it would be cool if Nintendo made a good Mario game again. Something kind of like Viewtiful Joe, with 2D gameplay. The way Mario's supposed to be. I bet it'd be popular (at least more popular than Mario Sunshine, ugh).

Agreed; it's sad that publishers all wait for late fall to release. R&C3 is amazing; I haven't played Halo 2 yet (gonna wait for the desktop version).

True; but I never really enjoyed combat in any Metroid game... It's not really a FPS, IMHO. The fun is in exploring and puzzle solving. Even the bosses are really just puzzles, with patterns that you need to figure out (and every Metroid game from the NES on up has been that way). The same is true for KOTOR; the combat was fairly tedious, but the puzzles and plot more than made up for it. As for cutscenes, personally, I don't really care all that much. Maybe I've played too many RPGs where the cutscenes seemed to take over. But, I don't know why Nintendo insists on doing text-only cutscenes... does it cut down on internationalization costs?

You get the dark suit farily early on, and then the dark world isn't so annoying (just like Magmoor Caverns were tedius without the Veria suit). There are many other new additions to MP2, including screw attack, boosting spider tracks (and a LOT MORE time spent in quasi-2D morph-ball levels, including a boss that is entirely fought in morph ball, and a few others that use morph ball significantly). I've really enjoyed it, and while the "gee, wow" factor isn't there from MP1, the game really is more highly polished. It's a better game, but not as groundbreaking.
I've hated every Resident Evil since the second one. I loved the first one. Hopefully this one finally redeems it.

Yeah, you can't really... well, you can, but you'll die.
I think what he means is it's like the water level (don't remember what it's called, but you swim around fairly often) without the gravity suit. You can get around fine, but you move slowly, can't see very well, and can't jump as high when underwater.

Naw, there's a save station right there...

A much better example.

IT IS TWO DISKS! You have to switch part of the way though as the storage on the Cube disks is too small.
No widescreen or progressive support.
Control is very very strange. You always have the camera on the right side of you causing a blind spot.
Aiming is very dificuly
Graphics are nice but needs better AA.
Hope to play more tomorrow to get a better impression. So far I like Silent hill more in just about every way.
