They seem to work better than average as 1 in 2 end in divorce in the US anyway.

I don't think that even close to that many hollywood marriages work... more in the realm of 1 in 100 i think.

it seems like must don't work but i'm sure there are alot that do. its fun to watch them self destruct though. most of them break up because they are too busy, i think if i was in hollywood i wouldn't ever get married, i would just bang hot supermodels.

what's the point of most of these marriages anyway? doesn't seem like they're having children, or building a future together. And in Cali, you gotta have the prenup.

So what's the point exactly of marriage, otherwise? to have a nice wedding?

it's probably terribly in favor of divorce, considering they've already destroyed the sanctity of marriage...nothing like the usa where the sanctity of marriage still prevails and dictates who can get married in the first place.

Sadly the majority of Hollywood marriages don't work. Just too much fantasy.

The point certainly doesn't seem to be about preserving the sanctity of marriage

I was wondering how long it would take Zimphire to take the USA part as an insult because of his insecurity. Guess I found out.

Thing is Canadian divorce rates are not relevant in this discussion because as the title says "Hollywood" which last time I checked was in the US

The reason my girlfriend of 8 years and I aren't married is because we don't really believe in its "sanctity". Yet plenty of people don't really care either way and just get married...to get married it seems.

I mean you take VOWS - the whole till death do us part business. Doesn't seem like too many people take that seriously anymore...so why bother?

And I worked many a wedding. On the surface it often seems more like an excuse for a kick ass party and being the center of attention than anything else.

Exactly, what is the point of a "Sacred vow" or "Commitment" if you can easily break it, just like 44% of people seem to do.

I think it is just a show off party thing, something to make the parents happy or a tradition.

Precisely my point. If some marriages must be banned because it is assumed or believed they threaten the sanctity of marriage, perhaps marriages that actually threaten that sanctity should be banned as well.

I simply care about marriage in general.

I don't care if it's a celebrity or not, it's a tragedy for a marriage to fail.

Macy and Huffman are both actors. They even acted together for a short time on Sports Night.

Sports Night I have it on DVD.

Just to add, Rita Wilson (Mrs. Tom Hanks) is also an actor.
