OFFICIAL MacNN Prediction thread: MWSF

Just list what you think is coming out.

This is purely for fun and for "I TOLD YOU SO" prosperity for after the event.

[some predict announcements will be made on 1/10 rather than the keynote on 1/11 so this thread starts now in anticipation of both days]

1. New iPod - Nothing crazy just upping the HD capacity on some of the iPods. I would say the iPod minis because they are older. Maybe discontinuing non-popular colors and introducing new ones.

2. New Computer - If Apple is really trying to compete with PC industry for some more sales, they need to offer a solution that is different. So I am going out on a limb and saying that a new slimmer or technologically blingier machine is coming out. Something different than an iMac or a powermac. The price would be around 1,000 or so depending on what it does.

3. A new software solution. Garageband, now __________. I am hoping I can find it useful to me because i have no interest in GB.

{long bit snipped}

So you don't expect the headless iMac? even though Apple sued ThinkSecret over it? I'm no lawyer, but I don't think they'd have much grounds for a lawsuit if it wasn't true.

I predict:

iWork '05
iMac mini (differnet name of course)
iPod Flash (different name as well)
iPod mini update to 5 gigs and maybe new colors
moto phone info
tiger info
iLife '05 (everything updated except iTunes, and maybe even a new app)
Asteriod

I don't think they will make any updates to the existing compters at MWSF, but I believe the eMacs, PowerBooks, and PowerMacs will all be updated in the following weeks.

5Gb iPod mini in silver, gold, green, blue, pink and purple

iWork suite inc. word processor app, spreadsheet app, Mail 2.0 and Keynote 2.0

iLife '05 inc:
iTunes 4.8 (minor update to piss Real off)
iPhoto 5 (iPod photo sync)
iDVD 5 (new things and some new technical stuff (HDTV? Dual layer writing?)
iMovie 5 (HDTV? Movie straight from camera?)
Garageband 2 (includes samples of U2 Vertigo - Hello Hello...)

10.4 release date and shiny new features

iBox $500 mac, eMac dies or goes education only

one more thing... iJetpacks, steve puts a shiny white cylinder on his back and leaves the stage through the ceiling.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

Aside from the 10.4 preview...

1) iLife 05: A dead cert. iWork included as part of the suite.
2) Motorola iTunes phone unveiled.
3) A revamped eMac, which finally ditches the CRT monitor and replaces it with... nothing. The new eMac, with a 1.5GHz processor, will sell for $599.
4) The final thing: Flash iPod introduced. Price cuts on all other models.

The one thing I'd like to see is another iPod/iTunes partnership with a PC company. Something like that would give unstoppable momentum to Apple in the digital music war.

I hope the PowerBook line gets updated:
- a speed-bump
- larger(5400rpm standard) harddisks
- new graphics card.

Especially the 12"..

That's all I ask.

Oh, and then prehaps a 17" lcd...

The one thing that we can be sure of is that Steve Jobs is giving a Keynote on Tuesday, attendees only. He will be wearing blue jeans and a black turtle neck.

We will get an update on Apple 2004, iTMS and iPod. Tiger will be mentioned.

There is no way Jobs will have time to announce all of the stuff we're pretty sure exists. He won't announce little things like powerbook speed bumps. People will whine, forgetting that almost every year there are bumps in late january and early february.

My prediction:

iPod recap - iPod flash
iLife '05
iWork '05 w/ keynote 2
sub $499-$599 headless mac

Powermac and powerbook bumps will come later in the month, emac may be discontinued (though a brief mention of 3Ghz may be included).

iPaul.

It can do everything I can do. Plays music, surfs the net, reads books, gets stuff done. Goes 6-8 hours between recharghes.

And is white, like me.

in order to provide better consistency along the powerbook line, i think the 12" powerbook will be replaced with a 13.3" widescreen version. thus all powerbooks will have widescreen displays while the ibooks will maintain the standard non-widescreen displays.

1) Flash based iPod

2) Announce and preview Apple/Moto phone

And one more thing...

3) Headless iMac

Other:

Major previews and update on Tiger

Possible iWorks

This is going to be a BIG MWSF for Apple....

I also predict Apple stock will hit $100 by June 1 (Damn, I wish I had the money to buy when it was at $18)
