Meanwhile, inside the store, employee Michael Lyen was handing out iPod shuffles as fast as he could pull them out of boxes. Many people were taking two and three at a time. It had the feel of someone handing out freebies on the street. Such is the lure of being one of the first to shell out $100 for a music player that is shorter than a pen.

So I found this thing called the phone...and I pushed some of the numbers and the Apple Store answered.
They said they expect delivery of the Shuffle sometime Friday or next Monday.
w00t.

No. Apple has told us end of this week or early next week. We got like 100 calls yesterday after the keynote asking if we had the new product already

Being in San Francisco, I'm a lucky son of a ___. I was tempted to buy a bunch of 'em and ebay 'em (I missed out on the ebaying of mini's during the christmas season even though they were plentiful near me). I decided against it though. Not worth all the trouble for a couple bucks...
