just thinking of the iHome and the iWalk fiascos.

has anything like that actually happened before? seems there is always a hoax or a mockup, but i have never seen anything actually leaked.

seems TS and MOR do alright with the specs and stuff, but have IMAGES ever leaked out?

Sure. It's called Mirrored Drive Doors, which was widely regarded as a fake. Of course, the Cube didn't leak out in the form of official images but rather as accurate mock-ups.

I don't think any of the mockups had it in such a compact size. 6.5 square by 2" tall is crazy.

The G4 iMac Time magazine cover was posed on Time Canada's website the day before the Macworld announcement. Not so much a leak as a mistake, but I got to sleep in the next day instead of huddling in front of my computer waiting to get a first peek.

Did you even know what it meant ?
There never was a fiasco with the "iHome" and the "iWalk".

It's a fiasco to those that put it on their websites and stuck by it as proven fact that later turned out to be ********. Still eating crow over the iWalk three or four years later seems like a fiasco of sorts to me.

I remember a picture of the powermac cube leaked the night before the keynote at which it was released. I specifically remember posting somewhere how it must be a fake, and a shoddy one too, i surmised. We all know how that turned out...

And in a thread the other day I thought the idea of a screenless iPod was ludicrous. Again, I ate crow.

Apparently whenever I feel strongly that Apple WON'T release something it's a good barometer of when they will.

I recall seeing actual product shots of the cube the day before release. Can't remember where. Same with the MDD powermac.

The 4G iPod leaked a day before, a frontcover foto online featuring Steve holding it. Was it Newsweek, Time?
I'm-a trying to wonder, wonder, wonder why you, wonder, wonder why you act so.

Still don't go to that website because of the fiasco.

Promotional materials for the second generation iMacs (the ones with transparent plastic) were leaked a few days before they were released.

And before Steve got serious about enforcing NDAs, images were leaked all the time.

O'Grady's PowerPage and Mac OS Rumors - remember, it used to be accurate - posted a pic of the original PowerBook G3 still labeled as PowerBook 3500.
