Last night, just out of the blue, the character "Victoria" comes on and says "Hey, someone is on the line."

OMGWTFBBQ?

Is this something from Dial-up? Anyone ever heard of this?

I am using 10.3.6 and on an ethernet connection, NOT Dialup.

Was iChat open?

Sounds like a practical joke via the terminal.

Does someone else have access to your computer via an internal network ?

Yes...I am pretty sure iChat was open.

Maybe the alert was on? I am pretty sure I have all of them turned off.

Good idea for a prank though. Make someones iChat alert speak something like, "Hey, you have a really nice pair of....shoes."

I'll check it when I get home.

I hope not. That would be bad news bears.

I am on a lan at my complex and I know we can all "see" each other, but I don't have SSH open. This wreaks of a Windoez Messenger scenario. (I ain't hatin' on OSX though.)

Any thoughts? Should I raise shields?

Is there a util that will allow you to monitor incoming and outgoing network requests?

Hm, sort of. Try Little Snitch.

It's great, but a little quirky with multiple users...

11:02 PM CST - "Hey, someone is on the line."

Again...second night in a row. If this is something obvious, you can all make fun of me.

PS:
Thanks turtle. I'll check it out.

In preference of the system which first, spreads out it accessed the SSH inside the thin it mac, in necessity that time a remote login it shared it lit the fact that it lights. Afterwords the that, will create the notation of it address of the IP which spreads out thing n in necessity. That inside preference of system is discovered inside the board of the network. Very end and the shedding of blood "ssh which last, inside the remote computer, he follows symbol of IP" non it will swell up above, in order to follow in order hazard it address of that time @ by it user identification, it yells. When being smart, he it passwd hits the hitter. In order to talk her now distantly it will create it computer which it spreads out to respect and it is that a l thing which it will create all by a space must hit the hitter inside the honoring funeral mark you whom it follows talk the computer and it wants the that time when the original and "word".

that's freaking weird. I could picture my Soundsticks blaring that at me as I sit in a stoned daze. I'd check all the rooms in my apartment with the emergency machete. then I'd wonder why LittleSnitch didn't find it. but I'd come to the conclusion that LittleSnitch annoyed me, and I probably, when starting up the program, allowed it to connect 'any time' to 'any connection'.

but yea. SOMEONE IS ONNN THE LINEEEE

when I set up an old iMac G3 for a friend I set alerts to randomly say things like "Marc, I'm pregnant." and other funny stuff.

My OS 9 memory says that at least the "Hey" is just one of many intros that Speech chooses before they quote the dialogue (or whatever it is). Like "By the way, [dialogue]."
