It's a shame. I never listened to them much, but my sisters were avid fans. I remember hearing stories of the HFStival every year.

I'm saddened, but at the same time, the spanish speaking population here is exploding.

Wow that's surprising. I remember when HFS was just 'college' radio...they grew so fast a lot of their original audience felt they sold out to bigger, more commercial interests. I sorta stopped listening too but I just assumed they were doing well.

Yeah, I saw the headlines when I got home. A damn shame!
But radio is all about $$$ now and Infinity Broadcasting thinks they
will make more money selling to the Latino/Hispanic market. Only
time will tell. Although I bet the folks over at DC101 are wetting
their pants about this, though.
Yet another reason NOT to listen to music on the radio anymore.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

It sounds as though there's going to be some kind of protest over this. http://www.hfstival.com/ has some scoop on this, though it would be nice if they linked to an article.
Truth be told, aside from the nostalgia I feel for my sister's stories, I don't really care about this too much. However, I'd be more than willing to take bets that this protest will be branded as racist, whether or not it actually is.

There's also an awful online petition now, apparently written by one of the "adolecents" that the petition claims were served by the station. Never mind they they couldn't even spell HFStival right.
No, I didn't sign it.

I agree. Everyone protesting will be considered anti-hispanic.
