There was this racing game and you would sit on a seat in front of a screen, stradling it. You also had handle bars. It was a third person perspective of this red, hover, jet thing and you would drive on the walls. I believe there was shooting aswell. After completeing a level, you would receive add-ons/powerups, like better weapons. I think you could also damage your 'wings' and they could be repaired.
The graphics pretty shoddy for 3D, but it was very fun.
Here is a bad rendering of what i remember.
I would really appreaciate the nostalgia.

A version of that came with my Performa 6200... it was called Super Maze Wars.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Yes, I liked that game. They had a version of it for free at a local play where you paid for all-you-could-game.

Don't know the name of the game you're looking for. In case it was "Super Maze Wars" as mentioned by Amorya above, you can grab it from mac-the-underdogs.org (along with a whole lot of other "abandoned" games).
If you're looking for a similar (and more modern) racing game, take a look at Wipeout 2097, I remember having a ton of fun with that one a few years back.

That's definitely S.T.U.N. Runner. I loved that thing when I was a kid. The graphics are shoddy by modern standards, but back then this stuff was state of the art. Keep in mind it dates back to the mid-1980s.

You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!
