Finally made it back south to Los Angeles, some ten years later thanks to the numerous delays from CalTrans. For those who weren't able to attend this years expo, I thought I'd share a few things I saw may not have graced Apple's press releases.

1.) MacNN was in full force, as many would expect. I couldn't help but laugh at the garish saturation of swag throughout the show. Here's 1000 or so business cards lying next to dozens of other exhibitors' material. Hopefully these didn't wind up in the trash - though that may increase my chances of the iPod.

2.) Andy Hertzfeld, one of the co-creators of the original Mac was on hand to promote his new book. I had the pleasure of listening to him speak about the days he had at Apple Computer. Probably the most interesting things to note about this: Andy was wearing a BitTorrent tee shirt, and commented on more than one occasion that he was motivated by making software free. Second, Andy commented 'The current Apple is not the Apple I once knew.' He was openly very critical of Apple's legal department suing ThinkSecret.com's founder.

3.) Dual 30's - nothing new here, but there's something about seeing this set up that wants to make me go into debt:

4.) For those at all interested in celebrity Mac users, Sinbad (for those who remember him) was combing the convention on Thursday.

Got any more pictures of the show?

A few... but probably most of which you've seen before:

The damn thing is TINY. I still can't believe just how small it is.

*There was probably 100 of these things on display, with a line 10 deep at a time just to see one.

Even Jesus represented at MacWorld

Pro Audio setup, I believe

Pro Video editing setup w. XServe. Droooool

Not sure if anyone's talked about these, but there were literally hundreds changed within minutes after Steve's speech ALLLLL across the city. Not sure how they implemented that logistically, but it was impressive.

Correction: 4th picture down appears to be Maya or another 3D modeling app.

I wonder how many dailies you could fit on those 2 RAIDs.

You're absolutely right, it was Maya. If I'm not mistaking however, the demonstration was synching up vocals to the character on the screen.

Also about the 4th picture. The controller apears to be a professional color correction interface.

You're probably right. I just snapped the photos and didn't inquire too much about what I was actually seeing.

Most likely. Usually a mixer has…well…sliders.

As a member of the Silicon Valley Macintosh Users Group (we actually meet monthly on Apple's campus), I have pics posted up from my visit Wednesday in the Photo section of their Yahoogroups website.
