Read here about how a dog literally saved a boy from the tsunami in Indonesia.

This dog has 24 puppies!

I'm truly amazed by what some animals are capable of. I just read that tsunami dog story this morning. Some people have tried to tell me that animals aren't capable of being "smart" because they do not have the ability to reason, but I do not believe that.

to all smart pets.

I suppose they must be smart enough to know what's happening when they get their family-jewels cut off. And they must also be smart enough to know what's happening when they're given away after they don't quite live up to expectations...

He is referring to the fact that a rescue JRT that we gave a foster home to for a few months ended up going to another home. As a matter-of-fact, I have lunch appointment for sushi with the lady that has that little JRT. He's also referring to the fact that the dog was neutered. Just to let you know, OB1, that little dog is happy as can be. He's in a home with a woman who has no kids, no husband, no one else. He goes everywhere with her. She is thrilled with him.

You want to see why he's in her home, which has no children, instead of our home with children?

Here you go (he bit him in the eye requiring a hospital trip) - some pictures of the bite marks that were left on my son's face after the JRT bit him when they were playing:

I actually work as a transporter for the local no-kill shelter and sometimes they don't have room for all the dogs, so they come home with us because I have a soft spot for them and think they might be able to stay here with us. We gave the Jack Russell terrier a chance and he's awesome, but he's aggressive with the children when he plays because he likes to bite and nip when he gets excited. The vet said to neuter him and the no kill shelter neuters them also. I have mixed feelings about neutering dogs, but everyone here thought it was a good idea.

Anyway, we just brought home a border collie that a guy bought for his 3-year old son for Christmas. Now his wife has decided to divorce him and has moved out, but doesn't want the dog. So, we brought him back to the house. He's been here for a week and he's great. We were going to send him back to the kennel where he was bred and came from (we were going to keep him until he could be flown back because airlines are not flying into the cold states for a couple of months), but he's so awesome with the kids that we're probably going to keep him. He's awesome with children.

Picture of him being goofy here at the desk - he's the smartest dog I've ever met - and is about 4 months old and about 25 pounds here:

So, that's the info that OB1 is referring to, who has nothing positive to add to the thread, as usual.

OB1, just post a good dog story, that's all.

AKCrab, if you're reading this, how is YOUR dog?

My pet parrot was just staring out the window, all of a sudden he started skwaking. So I looked out and I saw a large fox run by my backyard.

He's smart.

Here's another feel-good doggy story:
In a rags-to-riches story itself worthy of a Broadway musical, the two formerly homeless dogs were selected Friday to join the cast of the new Broadway show "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."

"This is the ultimate dream for a rescue dog," said Deborah Miller, who saved Argyle, a 10-month old collie, from a life spent locked in a Bronx basement. "To go from somebody's trash to a Broadway star."

You need to make your retorts snappier.

Mithras - What a beautiful dog! What kind is it? And that other story about the dogs going on Broadway is cool too.

AKCrab: Post pictures of all of them, will you?

Thanks!

That parrot story is great. I love parrots. They're REALLY smart. That African grey named Alex that Irene Pepperberg works with knows colors, shapes, and even counts numbers. He's amazing.
