Hi, I recently got an iMac G5 20" and love watching DVD's on it. One of the nice features of the new iMac is the Optical audio output. I would love to watch DVD's in the 5.1 surround sound.

I have 5 speakers and a sub. I suppose I just need a receiver with an optical input. Can anyone recommend a good set up for a reasonable price?

You are in the Lounge. This is no way to ask for help. Remember, we aren't here to help, only to criticize (and then through in a few words of advice by accident.)

A better to to get replies to your subject (because there a lot of Audiophiles on here) is to title your thread "I'm getting this awesome Bose sound system with digital in"
and in your post go on about how great it sounds and how good the bass is, and how cheap it is for the great sound it puts out.

Then, you will get all the advice you need about a reasonably priced stereo with digital in.



On topic, I have an older Sony DA555ES reciever and it sounds great. I haven't really shopped around for a reciever since then. It may help to post what you usually watch or listen to, price range you are looking in, if you have demoed any systems at a good audio store (not Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.), what speakers you already have, etc.
