the ibook on the right is a g3, and the ibook on the left is a g4.

Does anyone have an ibook (orange or blue) next to an ibook that is white?

That first iBook is one of the ugliest products Apple has ever released.

The graphite iMac looked nice.

I actually like the slot loading iMac's a lot even now. When the back of the CRT had that metal shielding removed in the later models it looked cool.

My wife still uses her graphite iBook every day. We still get comments from PC users on how nice it looks and how rugged it feels.

I don't know if it's true, but my wife's iBook feels a lot more sturdy than my 15" Aluminum PowerBook.

Quite right, but they were also (arguably) the absolute toughest laptops every has sold.

Seems like a weird flip flop of function over form over function.

Wow, I just blew my mind.

Runs 10.3.7 like a charm. Don't know about Tiger, though.

Did anyone have a Key Lime green one? I've only seen photo's of it, but I like it in a 'If you're going to get a computer that looks like that, you may as well go the whole way and get a green one!' kind of way. It would probably match a green iPod mini pretty well nowadays (I think the Key Lime was an SE, so it would have had a firewire port).

Yep, it ranks up there with B&W PowerMac G3s, Flower Power/Blue Dalmatian iMacs and the Macintosh LC 5xx series.

It should run Tiger better than it runs 10.3. OS X has always gotten faster with each release, never slower.

Blasphemy! I loved the B&W G3. Though I agree the FP/BD iMacs were ugly, and so were the LC 500 series. But Apple's made worse - the PowerMac 4400 and also the IIvx/Quadra 650/PowerMac 7100 were pretty bad too.

And ajprice, yes all Key Lime iBooks have Firewire. The color was introduced with the second major revision of the line and was available on both 366 and 466 MHz versions. Good luck finding one though - they are fairly rare, since the Key Lime color was a BTO option from Apple. And almost no one bought them, because apparently if you're buying a computer that looks like a toilet seat you have to make a cheap attempt at "non-gaudiness." Oh well. The Tangerine ones look cool too.

"That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" *wheeze*
