I think that if some people in here got together in real life the homicide rate would be phenomenal.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Wow, go figure people who have other people telling them they're stupid feel worthless. That said, I should note, that the people who score higher on these sorts of things are often arrogant asses who think that they're better than everyone else, why would they want to deprive the world of such a person as themselves. I should note some of the kindest, nicest and in many cases wisest people you meet will have gone through things involving deep depression, suicidal desires and perhaps even attempts. People who bother to publish or even research things like this and present them in such a manner tend to irritate me.

Yeah because why would we want to research and try to understand things. Better to not know.

What possible motives can be behind this?

Does that mean they are helping further the human race by eliminating the retards?
Arsehole 1: I heard that 50% of the people in the world have below average intelligence
Arsehole 2: Where did you get those statistics, do you have anything to back them up?
Arsehole 1; Oh are you one of the people more likely to commit suicide?
(not serious)
So, even though its true that more intelligent people are more likely to get depressed, dumber people are more likely to commit suicide. I suppose most of the reason for this is because dumb people are more likely to accidentally commit suicide through explosions and such. And smart people, if wanting to commit suicide are more likely to figure they might as well take a ****-load of people with them and go on bombing runs, massacres and so on.
[oh and according to mac osx's built in dictionary its spelt ****-load not shitload as I would have thought.]

Motives? What are you talking about? There are, like, people who study depression and suicide. It's, you know, the field they've chosen for their career. They get degrees, they get jobs, and they do the research. "But I demand to know your MOTIVES?"
