50 Most Loathsome People in America

Some really vitriolic humor here. Great stuff, although this list could've easily gone to 100. They missed a bunch of people including Michael Moore, Starr Jones, Carson Daly, Jay Leno, Al Roker, Madonna, Barbara Streisand, Lindsay Lohan, and the Olsen twins.

e.g.,
41. Everyone who got together to watch the final episode of “Friends”

Crimes: Allowing a trivial sitcom about living in New York, made for people who’ve never been anywhere near New York, to become a focal point in their shallow, meaningless lives. Watching TV together is not a bonding experience; it is a distancing experience, a way in which people can cohabit a room without actually having to engage each other or connect personally. Whoever’s ultimately responsible for the “watch ‘Friends’ or the terrorists win” meme should have a special room reserved for him in the bad section of hell.

Smoking Gun: You probably liked the whole Niles and Daphne thing on “Frazier,” too.

Punishment: A full year of plodding BBC Documentaries.
47. 50 Cent

Crimes: Sole credential for being a rapper, aside from his affiliation with Dr. Dre, is having been shot several times. Spent his first record company advance on crack to sell. Can barely talk, let alone rap. Represents the worst aspect of urban culture, its tendency to collapse in on itself in an orgy of mobsterism and self-destructive spending. Obnoxious tendency to pull out large wads of cash and wave them around in people’s faces (not a figure of speech).

Smoking Gun: Ugliest rapper to make it since Biggie.

Punishment: Getting his ass kicked by Will Smith.

3. You

Crimes: You gaze idly at the carnage around you, sigh, and go calmly back to your coffee and your People magazine. You can’t stop buying useless crap, though you’re drowning in a deepening pool of debt. You think you’re an activist because you bitch all day on the internet, but you reelect the same gangsters at a 99% rate. You consider yourself informed because you waste a significant portion of your life watching the same three news stories cycle over and over again on your gargantuan, aerodynamic television set while you eat processed food. You really thought everything would be okay if Kerry won. Not only do you believe in an invisible man who magically farted out the universe, you also excoriate and marginalize those who disagree. You have a poorer understanding of your country’s foreign policy history than a third world peasant, but you can’t wait to see what Julia Roberts will be wearing at the Oscars. You cheer as Ukrainians challenge an election based on exit poll data, but keep waiting around for someone else to fix your problems. You can’t think, you can’t organize and you won’t act. This is all your fault.

Smoking Gun: You’re fat.

Punishment: You’re soaking in it.

Someone put this thread into PoliWar. I agree with a few of these, but even the most gung-ho liberal has to admit the bias of this article. I mean, come on; Kerry made it onto the list (and got to the #5 spot) by sole virtue of the fact that Bush beat him? Does losing to Bush truly make someone so loathsome?

Most loathsome?

That list HAS to be headed by the bloviator Michael Moore.

<blegh>

Followed by (not necessarily in order)

1. Courtney Love
2. Michael Jackson
3. Paris Hilton (and her little dog too)
4. Omarosa (from The Apprentice)
5. Star Jones aka "Bridezilla"
6. Barbra Streisand (and her "website")
7. William "she bang" Hung (American Idol wannabe contestant)
8. Kevin Federline
9. Garfield (the movie)
10. Kobe Bryant

All of them deserve the distinction of being amoral, untalented, or over-exposed - and in some cases, all three.

This is humor, albeit satirical humor. And not everyone on the list is in politics. There are actors and other media figures on the list. It should stay Lounge. If it's moved to PoliWar, it'll just degenerate into a right vs. left bitch session. So what if the list has a leftish bias. Is everyone that sensitive?

Besides, there are Democrats on the list, although Michael Moore is suspiciously absent. If anything, it reveals how ineffective Democrats have become because none of them, with the exception of M. Moore, have been high profile enough to be noticed. They've been invisible. That speaks volumes, IMHO.

It’s not even a cleverly disguised (due to a lack of true wit from the author) whine about the fact that this guy is upset over the election result. All anyone need do is read his #1 choice to figure that out. He blames the Sec. of State of Ohio(!!) because Kerry lost!

What a dunce.

Also notice how he exudes a very typical liberal racism- that very special brand of bile that liberals reserve for minorities that DARE to defy the very narrow stereotypes that all ‘downtrodden minorities’ MUST conform to according to the political left, or else white liberals feel perfectly free to call them every name in the book, up to and including the N-word, declare them ‘traitors to their race’, and level all sorts of racist bile at them.

The author isn’t even clever enough to do like many libs, and better hide his hatred for minorities that don’t “know their role”. He comes right out and make the issue the guy’s race, reveals that’s the real object of his hatred, and wants him ‘dissolved in a vat of acid’ for daring not to “know his role.”

The whole rest of the list is just fluff filled in to mask his true agenda- upset and whining over the election result that didn’t go his way, and the fact that he blames the Ohio Sec. of State. How dare he not behave ‘like those blacks are SUPPOSED TO because the left has defined all blacks a certain way’ and somehow rig the election for Kerry!

What a piece of work.

23. Jerry Bruckheimer

Crimes: “Producer” really just means “guy with the money” in Hollywood. Master of the incoherent action sequence, full of unnecessary cuts and jittery close-ups. His rapidly multiplying CBS cop show empire is replete with ridiculously beautiful cops and scientists (and murderers and victims and witnesses) and impossibly stylish interiors. The “CSI” franchise perfectly fulfills the viewing needs of a fat, lazy nation: no running, no car chases, just sitting around, talking, and playing with gadgets. The real crimes, however, are the movies, including Kangaroo Jack, Coyote Ugly, Bad Boys, Bad Boys 2, Days of Thunder, Gone in 60 Seconds, and the so-stupid-it’s-funny Armageddon. Imagine what else could have been done with that money.

Smoking Gun: Who brings a ****ing Gatling gun to an asteroid?

Punishment: Made into shoes for Martin Scorsese.

I agree and that's why I left it here in the lounge instead of moving it. There are plenty of nonpolitical people on the list, and if it was moved, it would turn into business as usual in the political forum. Yes, the author's bias is pretty obvious, but it isn't exactly a news story or anything.

It is sad to see all the hate that is being written.

Gawd, but you are perceptive!!

I can only imagine the attack of Zimphire-itis as you click and find, not No 1, but No. 50.

No, it's not cleverly disguised, just 40 or so bullseyes. The lack of wit may be due to the 'easiness' of the targets.

As is the 2002 list which includes, incidentally, Michael Moore. And, haha, Ann Coulter again. I guess he was pretty upset about the election result then, too.

Which one? The Democrats losing more seats in congress in 2002, or still beating a dead horse (like every other leftist) over election 2000?

I counted 28 of the people in there were there for politics (give or take 1 or 2). That's over half. Therefore, I vote for PoliWar Lounge, even if it reduces this to even more bickering.

Barbraaaah Streisand makes it worth of going into the political lounge, I s'pose.

But, it was made here and so I am not making political nominations. Otherwise Teresa Heinz "Gimme-a-gin-soaked-raisin" Kerry would have been right up there with the others.

When SNL or South Park ridicule politicians, does that make it a political show? No, it's satire and therefore humor. It stays out of the Lounge.

Gawd, some of you people need to lighten up when someone makes fun of your favorite politician or political party.

Actually, I would call South Park a political show, because a great number of the episodes' plots are basically just trying to be as politically incorrect as possible, purely for the sake of being politically incorrect. And just because it's humor doesn't mean it gets free pass to stay in the Lounge. I've seen many threads started in the PL that were just intended to be humorous.

This has nothing do with my political affiliation. All I did was make an observation.

So many truths in that page, where does one begin?

Love this one about Dick(head) Cheney:

"4. Dick Cheney

Crimes: So loathsome his own party is frightened of him. Manages to deliver stunning lies with an air of sneering authority. Shamelessly employs scare tactics in order to strip the federal government of any resemblance to the one described in the constitution. So visibly evil that all of the documented evidence against him is superfluous. The kind of guy who starts talking cannibalism the minute he steps on the lifeboat.

Smoking Gun: Managed to make his own shame at producing gay offspring into a negative for Kerry.

Punishment: Hacked to death by Mexican migrant workers."

Then in today's news, we hear another load of bull from the pr!ck.

Iran tops the list of "potential trouble-spots" worldwide, according to US Vice-President Dick Cheney.

When will the evil end.

Obviously not so petty that you wouldn't reply...

As I said before, all I did was make an observation. It's everyone else who has so fiercely fought that this thread belongs here, rather than the PL. I don't know how you can interpret what I said as whining, although I can see you interpreting this as whining. That's what sucks when you're accused of whining: when you try and deny it, all that gets you is accused of more whining.

Whatever. I no longer care.

Not in the least.

I knew you'd say something "sub" standard, subgenieux.

I'm not the one who is insecure. It seems to me that people who make fun of pregnant women or new mothers are the ones that have a psychological problem and/or are insecure. Obviously they are suffering from some issue or else why the need to compensate through the ridicule of new mothers?

Now, if someone wanted to make a comment about Kirstie Alley (real name Gladys Leeman) I'd be hard pressed to argue about it.

Who's making fun? Liv is, at the moment, fat. She's also a mother (M). I'd (I) quite like (L) to engage is some canoodling (F) with her too.

So someone who states the truth is suffering from some kind of issue?

Why do you want to have anything to do with her?

She's married.

Or doesn't that mean anything to you?

That's the only problem, given that I don't poach married women.
However, this point is entirely theoretical, given that I've got a better chance of bumping into Saddam Hussein down at my local mall than canoodling with Liv.

Chill out Cody. First you whine about us taking the mickey out of Liv for being fat (which she currently is) then you start on like we'd all try and steal her off her husband given half the chance.
So you moan at us because you think we don't like Liv. Then you moan at us when we say we do. How should we behave to keep you happy? Stop mentioning celebrities at all? Sorry, you gave up that viewpoint when you looked at this thread.

You moan about us saying Liv is fat, yet then post a pic of Kirstie and state that you wouldn't have a problem with people making comment about her. What is this? "Fat" only becomes the truth when it's not post-natal?

*yawn*

Another sad, pathetic fool crying because they feel ineffectual and impotent. They have no control over their own life, so they resort to whining and blaming others.

Damn, I feel sorry for them... is there a link where I can donate some $ to this pitiful soul?

MacNStein, you make me laugh every single day.

Honestly, I think that making Kirstie Alley the topic of a discussion is fine. She even says so. She herself has made her weight the subject of her own television show.

To be honest, I admire Kirstie Alley. I think it's really cool that she can be as big as she is and make that detriment (her largesse) an asset. Same goes with Anna Nicole Smith. I like comeback stories.

It's an American tradition: We like to take a person, stomp them down, rip them apart, then watch them build themselves back up.

Watch Martha Stewart make a huge comeback. She's a perfect example. (I also admire Martha.)

BTW, admiring someone does not necessarily mean that I like them or their behaviors.
