woohoo! - this time next week [plane crashes permitting] i'll be in prague for the beginning of a five day visit. the art department at the college i work at is having its annual "let's take a load of students abroad and get wasted every night" er... i mean "cultural" visit.

all generously funded by the EU, as it involves encouraging young people from different EU countries to 'interact' [for which read 'get drunk and try and get off with each other' ]

the students have to pay £50 for the trip and the staff get to go for free. so, seeing as how my GF happens to be a student at the college too, it's costing us £50 between us for nearly a week's holiday in prague.

i am most definitely not a eurosceptic!*

So this is what they're doing with my taxes.

I believe this to be a contravention of Article 14 of the Human Rights Charter (age discrimination) and consequently will be taking this issue up with my local MEP. Unless they send over some Iberian women for me to "interact" with.

I visited Prague a couple of years ago and it is a fantastic place to visit. So much history, amazing architecture, excellent galleries (if you're into that sort of stuff). And really cheap drink and food.

By the end of your trip you'll be sick of duck, cabbage, and dumplings!

Sweet photos, quite a few sights I remember from when I was there. I've got some pictures of the Jewish cemetery too. Disturbing fact: when Hitler occupied the Sudetenland he preserved Prague's Jewish quarter with the intention that it would become the "museum of an extinct race."
