Ben Goodger hired by Google

Unlike David Hyatt, he will still be working on Firefox et al, but Google will pay his wages (obviously there's more to it than this, but he won't spill the beans).

A lot of people are saying that this means google will do a browser, and I know there are some thing that point to this, but I tend to think that it is more that google sees firefox as the next big thing, and this way they can stay in touch with what is happening with firefox, and help to even guide, or ensure that certain things happen in the future with it.

I see it as google ensuring that they have a platform in the future (if google works better on firefox, it is a huge reason to switch). Google and MS are direct competitors, and the enemy of your enemy is your friend.

If google made a browser, I might try it, but I don't see how there is space for yet another browser.

Indeed.

The Bugzilla pages which were consequently locked I think talked about greater integration with Blogger etc.
