I have been a student ADC member for 4 years and my subscription is about to expire. I graduated school in June, so I can no longer renew my subscription as a student and I do not plan to upgrade to a more expensive membership. I have never purchased a Mac through the ADC hardware purchase program so if I don't do it now then I'll be losing out on a great deal. The only problem is, I don't need anything right now. I am perfectly content with the PowerBook I currently use (15" 1GHz PowerBook) and I am not in a position financially to be making large computer purchases.

The ADC discount is pretty much this: 20% off of PowerBooks and PowerMacs, 10% (or less) off other Macs. I would love to be able to buy a high end Mac for cheap and turn around and sell it on ebay for a small profit, but I'm concerned about buying such an expensive machine, with very little assurance that I'll be able to turn any profit at all.

Has anyone ever done this? Are there any configurations that will sell particularly well? Unfortunately I am limited to PowerBooks, PowerMacs and Xserves for the good discount. Xserves don't seem to sell on ebay (understandably) but PowerMacs and PowerBooks are rarely sold as new items. I'm not really sure what machine would be best to do this with. Obviously, the more expensive the machine, the larger the potential profit.

Ideally I would really like to find someone who wants to split the discount with me in some way, and I would order the machine and have it shipped directly to the buyer's house. Is anyone here interested in something like this? Has anyone here ever done this? Thanks.

Know anyone looking to buy a mac? Thats your best bet. I don't know if new macs really go fast on ebay.

No offense, but I doubt you will find any takers from here when you registered in Oct. 2001 and only have 2 posts in over 3 years. Just an observation.

Best of luck anyway...

You're not allowed to resell your systems for at least one year from the date of shipment.

I registered this name a long time ago, to post stuff like this. I wasn't sure if I was violating the ADC terms by selling the machine so I didn't want to draw any attention to myself by posting under my regular name. Even though I now know that the terms don't allow me to sell the machine immediately, I still want to. I would hate myself for letting this discount slip away.

EDIT: If anyone is interested please PM me. I promise the transaction will not be sketchy.
