Is kind of in trouble now. He is kind of obsessed with his ex, and (against my advice, dammit!) kept checking her email account, obviously without her permission. The poor guy is freaking out now, since the police has contacted him and want to press charges and stuff.
I've been trying to help him out, finding out what laws did he break and stuff, but didn't find anything that clearly states what sort of trouble he is in, if it is a crime or a misdemeanor, etc. Anybody has any feedback?
Women, let me tell you.....they'll drive you crazy.

When he gets arrested he might wake up and stop acting like a total idiot.

Checking other peoples e-mail may count as a violation of privacy, but it should really be password protected.

Is this really aberdeenwriter?
What's the point of your thread? Do you want advice for your friend?
It's easy:
STAY OFF OF THE COMPUTER.
By the way, when people say, "My friend..." they usually mean themselves.

Tell him to stop being a creep. No one likes being called a creep.
It'd make me stop...

Lets see, how did he obtain the password for the email first of all. If he used spyware then that could be a violation of privacy laws specially if it was on her computer. In Canada its a violation even if you own the computer and you don't inform users of the software. If he got the password through hacking that violates hacking laws. If he tricked the ISP to give him the password thats fruad.
If he is taking the emails or deleting them thats theift and distruction of private property, and a couple other laws that fits in that I cant think of off hand. But the worst ones would be stalking laws.

Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.
