Well for those up this late you can find stuff listing as free from Staples Canada's website. Most laptops are listing as free, computers, scanners, printers, flash memory sticks, some digital cameras, Windows XP Pro, Norton Systemworks 2005 etc. I've made a partial list of the items showing as free and a pair of screenshots.

Anyone want to guess how long these pricing errors will stay up? Do you think Staples will honor the prices?

Partial List of free items (238 items)

how does that work, then, do they just have to tell you about the pricing change before they charge your credit card?

look at the disclaimer...

they often will say "misprinted prices not re-deemable" sometimes they will offer a discount but they protect themselves from this stuff.

i am not going to look at staple's disclaimer for you

They have the right not to process the sale. If an item has shipped, I don't know about what they can do. But based on the reasonableness standard, they can cancel a sale.

I would think that would be the most likely result. Staples' legal stuff talks about typographical errors but mentions nothing specifically about the prices. Personally I would think that if 250+ items all ended up with $0 as the price, that seems to be more than just a typographical error. More like something in their database got screwed or something.

They do in California, but only if it's marked on a label. I don't think printed advertisements count.

Staples has no legal obligation to sell anything to anyone at any advertized price because of its self-protection from typos, system errors, etc.

If you manage to order something worth $1500 for $1 and they deliver it, they cannot bill you the difference. That's their problem because the deal is closed.

But if they catch the error before they ship, they can cancel your order. You have no recourse. You are not owed anything.

Some of you folks think you have the right to get merchandise free and screw the vendor due to technology problems preventing a price from being properly displayed?

This sort of stuff happens all the time. No one ever gets anything for free. Don't even bother trying.
