Finally renting this out from blockbuster over the weekend. was especting a Jaws meets Cast Away kinda movie, but was pleasantly surprised to find it wasnt. (although i do love Jaws and Cast Away).

The movie was 'complete' with no extra fluff, the acting, camera work, direction, etc...came together perfectly.

Here's the shocking part of the movie though(which i learned of in the special features)..... the entire movie (sans editing probably) was made by a couple (husband and wife) using FCP, with relitavely unknown actors, who worked in the wild, with REAL sharks !!!! no stunt doubles, no CG, no puppets. And they mae it while holding down their day jobs.

It's a refreshing indie film, with a simple plot line, that has hollywood production values, but thankfully not the hollywood recipe for movie making. Check it out, it's definately a movie worth watching.

Cheers.

I liked it although before watching it expected crap. It was interesting and fresh, with not too much on top like many films these days. It felt pretty real also.

I'm not going anywhere near it as Jaws ****ed me up enough and I love swimming in the ocean too much.

Knock it off. Your little act was funny for about two seconds.

Thought it was worth watching. I especially thought the extra features were worthwhile too. They went into how they had done the traditional movie making with film and a big budget, but then decided to learn from scratch how to make a digital movie, and explored on the net what camera and equipment to buy. Also interesting that while they lived in NYC they flew down to the Bahamas on the weekends for two years to put the movie together.

and I think the behind the scenes shots of the actors in the water are more wild than in the movie.
