Yahoo and that MSN search.

To be honest I am a little sick of Google also. So many of their links have been down for over half a year but they still show up in search results.

Yahoo accepts money for rankings, as far as I know.

I'm unfairly banned by Google for some reason, I used to be number one in a search for my name

I've contacted them multiple times, but they won't give me a specific reason other than that "I do not comply with google's rules for whatever..."

My site is a simple weblog in Norwegian. http://www.erikveland.com/

Anybody got a clue?

Edit: Multiple choice? WTF?

EDIT: I tried looking up my site on google as well, it used to be right at the top of Google's results (if you looked up 'alexsanchez' with no spaces). Now there are loads of other stuff. I wonder if it had to do anything with the guy who owns AlexSanchez.com and AlexSanchez.org (my site is AlexSanchez.net)

I don't like any monopoly.

As they start acting like monopolist oligarchs such Google does where now to be listed high up you have to pay. It just sucks @ss to have to use Google..it REALLY annoys me.

Someone mentioned A9.com, that is owned by Amazon.com, so not interested in that either, I want a search engine that is a search engine... not a listing service of paid advertising trying to make a buck off me on a click thru.

I'm sure in a few years a search engine will come about not controlled by advertisors will come forward similar to Firefox/open source etc.

Just venting... I really really really despise those scum sucking billionare google people who now can watch over me and what I do on the web. just sucks... sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks.

ok.. I feel better now.. thanks for letting me vent.

GOOGLE SUCKS.

I'm sorry, but what is your problem with Google? Just that they're rich? Google was started by a couple of grad students, and is a really innovative company. Their website is simple and minimalistic. They're constantly innovating new features, and search over more pages, and give better results, than any other engine out there. And finally, unlike practically every other search engine out there, google's ads are unobtrusive, and text only.

Just because they're getting what they're due doesn't mean they suck.

That's total nonsense. Make sure that you've got relevant links to and from high value sites, make sure your copy is keyword rich and, probably most importantly, update your site frequently. That's all it takes to get a decent google ranking.

Anyway, nobody forces you to use google. Use whatever search engine you like, there's tons of them about.

A9 is basically Google with a prettier/more cluttered interface. it uses Google for all web/image results and amazon for all of the book results.
