Aesthetic preferences aside, how do you plug it in to a USB port with the case still in place?

No thanks

Considering it's just made by a single guy, I think that's pretty cool. However, I wouldn't want anything to change the size or weight of mine, even at the risk of scratches. You can't hurt the functionality of the shuffle by scratching it anyway.

I think they expect you to use an USB extension cable as it looks like the cap is already off.
At any rate it LOOKS nice but the added weight defeats the whole purpose for me.
Not to mention the shuffle is just plastic and you don't have to worry about scratches and paint pealing.

Yeah exactly. It's 2 grams away from doubling the weight.

Cool to show your bling. I like the look.
However the whole original reason the iPod cases were so popular was due to the incessant scratching on the back which made them almost a necessity.
iPod shuffle has no such problem with scratching, so it's merely a way to make it look different. It succeeds at that, at the slight expense of usability (weight, access to usb).

I've never used a case with my 3G -- yeah, a year and a half later it's pretty damn scratched up, but who cares? it's lighter and more usable than it would be with any other solution. I decided early on to avoid losing sleep over scratches. And it works great.

I could easily make this at work on a Haas CNC. I should buy an iPod just to make one.
The Shuffle cover shown here I could make in about an hour with a regular Bridgeport vertical mill.

Metallic cases will make the ipod shuffle stronger. If you drop things a lot this is a good choice.

I think it would be much more interesting if it were polished to near chrome.

Looks like Capt. Obvious has a challenger.
Certainly not in the IQ department, but this person has him beat in the obvious category.

Y'know...I like it (for the shuffle, at least). Especially considering it's just one guy that made it on a CNC mill for the heck of it.

I'd only be interested in something rubberized and completely water-proof.
