Forbes is running an online poll, "Which Company Makes The Best Personal Computers?"

IBM introduced the original personal computer back in 1981. Three years later, Lenovo Group brought the first PCs to China. Fast-forward a couple of decades, and a PC revolution has occurred. Computers are as commonplace as TV sets in households worldwide, and Lenovo is buying IBM's PC division for $1.75 billion.

Yet now there is a plethora of PC manufacturers from which to choose--not to mention Apple Computer, whose Macintosh computers are often touted as being anti-PC. One fierce competitor is industry leader Dell, which yesterday announced record-setting fourth-quarter sales.

So we ask you, who makes the best personal computers?

They'll just print something snotty in a day or two about how some apple fansite skewed the results, which can't be considered accurate because Apple only has 0.036% of the desktop market.

If this was posted at Motley Fool then I'd be very surprised. If Apple got something like 50%, the followup article would be about how Apple's a disease and Mac users need to get a life.

Motley Fool is almost as bad as Paul Thurrott.

i would have thought Sony would have more votes??? or do they not make good computers. and ibm? i used to have a thinkpad back in 98 - that thing sucked. suppose they have improved.

It's so embarrassing that the only German company in that list got a full 0% of all the votes.

But as long as they make enough money to buy the CEO a Rolex (for laying off 1500 people) everything is still all right I guess.

They are actually a little better than they used to be according to most measures. I voted Apple (of course). Still at 51% with the nearest competitor now at 11%
