So today after class, my piano teacher pointed to my iPod Shuffle around my neck and asked "Is that an air purifier?" I just replied, "No, it's a music player, nothing so humane." She did then ask, "Oh like an iPod?" and I then informed her that it is an iPod. She asked how it worked and I explained it to her.

Now, in defense of the question, when in that class, I take my earbuds off completely and put them in my pocket (the cord gets in the way of the keys sometimes), leaving the naked Shuffle dangle around my neck. She has seen me wear it every day and probably never noticed the earbuds before and after class. So she was left wondering what the big white thing was hanging around my neck.

But I would never have guessed anyone would ask me if it was an air purifier. It took me by surprise.

As a male...

Would carrying around pink iPod mini be a chick or a gay man magnet?

Maybe a gold iPod mini would be much better suited at attracting girls. Gold == money?

The only male I know with a pink iPod mini is gay, so... I am not sure what that means.

And make sure, you don't write it wrong (iPod), like Apple does!

A sales guy at the place I work asked what my 40GB iPod was (PDA?) and I told him it was an iPod music player. Then everyone at the meeting asked why I brought it to the meeting since I wasn't using it. I told them I don't leave it in the car because of theft and the battery doesn't like the cold. Meh.

No I just don't think you are following. Nerdy Asian boys are drawn to me when I wear an iPod and 16 year old girls are drawn to the way I look.

Get it?

Uh huh. Shouldn't you be ditching the iPod post haste then?

I tried wearing my shuffle around my neck and then I saw someone else with one on and realized I looked like a massive tool. It has hence been relegated to my pocket.

Most people at work dangle their employee security badges around their neck, and lots of have USB keys. I wear my shuffle around my neck because it's convenient. A few people comment on it (positively).

Personally, I couldn't care less if people think I look like a tool. I'm not out to impress them.

Wear black if you're feeling attention-seeking while listening to your iPod shuffle (with the lanyard cap).

If not, wear white or something.

Then again, if I hadn't lost my shuffe's USB cap, it would probably be in my jeans pocket or something.
