I've seen several keynote addresses and each time he's wearing the same black shirt, jeans and sneakers. I'm just curious why.

EDIT: And also, Phil Schiller...he's always wearing that long-sleeve denim-looking blue shirt!

I bet it's not the same shirt, jeans & sneaks. I bet he's got dozens of black mock turtlenecks, jeans & sneaks. Hundreds of 'em!

Observe "Brundle" in "The Fly" talking about Einstein.

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to disparage Mr. Jobs, I was genuinely curious. Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Brand image. Like the way Ronald McDonald doesn't change. It's quite possible when Jobs retires and someone else takes his place, I hope it's Ives, that the board will ask them to dress the same to keep up the tradition.

I'd like Russ Feingold to take over Apple after Steve.

Isn't it obvious by now that Ives wears only silver clothes? Or white ones with silver trim.

I read somewhere that it's because he doesn't like to worry about what to pick to wear in the morning, and whether it matches.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

That's the explanation "Brundle" gives in "The Fly" when talking about Einstein. It's also the explanation I give when people ask me why I basically have 40 copies of the same outfit.

Eventually every CEo will be referred to as Steve Jobs. Hey, maybe they could stick with the Jobs family line...

My wife always wonders why I always buy the same brand and model of jeans. Simply because it's less work to pick them out, I know what to expect, and they go good with every shirt I have. I't a no-brainer issue.

I usually buy a dozen at a time also and wear them equally. Saves a lot of time in stores buying clothes.

I have a fair amount of variety in my shirts & pants, but I always buy the same exact brand & color of socks.
Makes it much easier pairing them up after doing the laundry.

Same here. I notice a slight problem in that they all seem to wear out at the same time, mind.

I recently decided I was going to try and be more "stylish". I had about $200 so I went to Old Navy and a few other places and bought one nice outfit and a pair of Pumas. I got great compliments the next day.

But the day after, and the day after, and the day after I wore my same old crap - jeans and a t-shirt. The compliments subsided. At least the Pumas were a good investment. I think.

Sigh.

That question is like asking why odes a punk rocker dye they're hair... Steve Jobs is smart... it's all psychological. He comes on stage looking like a bum on purpose. This makes him look laid back and easier to identify with.

Though a slightly different blue -- I like darker jeans and have this addiction for light blue shirts now.

Because it persistently draws the invariable question "Why does Steve Jobs always wear the same outfit?"

I swear it does.

It has become his signature trademark. Has become like a uniform.

It's what everyone expects at MacWorlds. They expect him to be wearing that. I think when it comes to Macworld that is the ONLY consistant thing. because You never know what new things Apple will release but you ALWAYS know Jobs will be in his Black mock turtleneck and Jeans.

You are like so many young Bible College boys it's not even funny... sigh...

Black shirt + Blue jeans... why is it every guy ever born thinks this looks "good"? Sigh... oh well... least the ladies on campus recognize that I dress well... even if it ends up with several people questioning my sexuality. hahaha
