I wish that I could get into the habit of flossing daily.

I'll scratch whatever bit of me is itching whenever it needs it.
Mind, I'm not sure how this fits into "bad personal hygiene" unless you scratch your butt by actually sticking your hand down your pants.

Same here. It doesn't take long either; it's just that I like to "conserve energy."

It was on the news the other day that people who floss live about 6 years longer. Something to do with bacteria buildup but sounds iffy to me.

Longer than WHO ?
Those who don't floss ? I don't believe it.
Longer than people that smoke and take drugs ? Ok, better...
My point is: it is probably not the flossing itself, but that people who floss have in general a higher esteem for their health. So flosssing is NOT the reason, but just a derived function from something else.

Malvolio's Etiquette Tip Of The Day©:
When releasing flatulence in public, always do so in a crowd. That way, nobody can positively identify you as the guilty party.

Here it is..

Pfft, I'll match yours and up you one more
Lead researcher Dr Frank Scannapieco said the mechanism linking oral health and lung disease was not clear.
However, he suspects that bacteria in the mouth are likely to be to blame.
He said: "It is possible that bacteria that normally stick to the teeth are sloughed into the saliva and may be breathed into the upper airways, changing that environment and paving the way for other germs to infect the lower airways.
"Oral conditions likely work together with other factors, such as smoking, environmental pollutants, allergies and genetics to make existing lung problems worse."

Seems to me that flossing would slough more of those bacteria into the saliva, n'est ce pas?

Not wanting to dwell too much on this grimn subject, but don't you think plaque, and that gunk that you floss from between your teeth, has got to be one of the most disgusting substances known to man.
