I was going to say "we all could use..." but then I realized some people on this board are actually financially fine. However, most of us could use $2000 quick.

Yes, I'm going to kill him... unless you pay ME $2000.

No one will kill me, but my body will be altered permanently if i dont get the money. My reasoning is that there must be some really rich people here and maybe they could spare the money. Pm me if you can help me out.

I've heard people say the same thing about personal computers, e.g., "you are pathetic if you need 2k for a computer."

Whatever works for you, right?

Getting appointments with Guy Aitchison is next to impossible, so for a tattoo enthusiast, there is a decided sense of urgency.

yeah hes mad cool. I have seen some of his stuff and looks friggen solid. But with any high density super highly detailed color work, fading will undoubtedly occur. Ill get him to hit it again at the end of the summer.

No, you don't get it. Guy Aitchison is rather overpriced, but all the same, tattoos are expensive. $100/h and up are the going rates, and tattooing is a medium that takes lots of time to do. You have to consider that 1) you're commissioning original artwork, and 2) mistakes are not permissible, so the artist must be good, 3) usually the time spent drawing up the design is not billed, only the time applying it is.

It's hard to understand till the tattoo bug has bitten you. It's highly addictive.

If you think $2000 for ink is expensive, consider that a full body suit costs more than a Mercedes.

Consider also that unlike, say, spending $2000 in clothes, tattoos are something you only have to buy once, ever.

So explain this - what do guys who are 80 years old with wrinkly tats look like? I can see them on a 20-something year old male, but not a 55+ balding fat guy.

If they only lasted for 10 years or so, then I'd consider it.

I don't have a problem with the artwork, or its price.

Asking/begging/hoping for some strangers on an internet forum to give you $2000 is kinda wierd though.

Hope it all works out!

And? How's that relevant? My point was that spending $2000 on something fleeting is much less sensible than $2000 for something that will last the rest of your life.

Well yeah, but it'll fade at some point. And touch ups aren't exactly free.

I have a faded tattoo (15 years old) and am debating getting it touched up or redone or removed via surgery.

It depends on how good the artist is. Really well-executed tattoos will settle in one year, and then not blur or fade beyond that. If it's blurring and fading, it was done too deep. (The correct depth is right between the dermis and the epidermis. Too shallow and it'll disappear as the epidermis is sloughed off, too deep and the high vascularization of the dermis will move the pigment particles around, causing blurring and fading.)

Witness tattoos done by Japanese master tattooists, which stay perfect even decades old.

Honestly, if I had 2 grand just left over to spend on anything, I'd rather give it to some charity before financing tattoos...
