So WWDC this year will be June 6-10. Seems a week or two earlier than normal to me. I'm betting that Apple announces there that Tiger ships June 24.

Out of curiosity, why June 24?
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

Hasn't the 24th of the month been the common trend among OS X releases?

10.0 - March 24th, 2001
10.1 - September 24th, 2001 (or was this the 25th? If so, it's the oddball)
10.2 - August 24th, 2002
10.3 - October 24th, 2003
10.4 - June 24th, 2005?

Thank you for the information. Friday the 24th will be a good evening for the release party.

Sigh I was hoping to get Tiger before school let out so I could show off Oh well. That said though, I'm highly looking forward to Tiger. Soon as it comes out I'm buying my mom a mini. I think they probably will announce Tiger shipping in June though if only because otherwise they'd have to preview the next version of OS X which they've probably done very little work on. Then this gives em time to preview the next version of OS X at the next WWDC and announce it's ship date at the next one. I imagine we're running into a two year update cycle now.

Just got approved for it. I've never been to one before; don't they have conference tracks you sign up for to learn about a specific technology? When can you do that, and is there an extra cost?

Our lead software guy went last year. They have a bunch of sessions you can go to. If you want, you can go to all the sessions in the same area. Somewhere there is a huge list of all the sessions. I dunno, this years list might not be up.

I too am really looking forward to Tiger. I have been good and haven't been tempted to try and seek out one of the Dev copies that are out there. It's hard to just wait for it but I think Tiger will be worth the wait.

I doubt they will show another version of OS X Since after 10.4 they are stopping the Insanity for 14-18 month releases of each upgrade. They might show bits and pieces but I doubt they will show off another version like they did last year with Tiger.

With Tiger we're already near the 18 month dates, I think after this we'll be at around 24 month cycles.

I'm betting mid-late March, personally. I seem to remember seeing something on Apple's site (a promotion of some sort - it could have been on the ADC site) that pointed strongly to that timeframe.

That Tiger will be ready and ship within a month? Is it really that far along?

I think Apple publicly said that it will be a while before 10.5. Two years sounds reasonable, although I think I heard '08 from somewhere.

I can't really comment on that without breaking NDA. I just remember seeing a promotion's end date or something like that somewhere on Apple's site ("why, yes, I *can* be more vague!") that made me think Tiger would be shipping right around that time.

I don't really have any evidence beyond a gut feeling, and my gut's been wrong before. But I strongly suspect Tiger will be out before June. Maybe not the end of March, but before June.

Oh, just in case anyone comes back to look at this thread - I'm now 99% sure the Tiger ship date is April 16. Let's see if anyone notices that I've edited this old thread post.
