Neat find to correspond with your post count! On the other hand, scientists have been predicting lifespans in the hundreds for decades, yet with all of our advanced medicine and standards of living we still die in our 70s. Besides, with all of the misery that plagues our lives, would we really want to live all that much longer anyway?

Congratulations. Now that you've reached 1000 posts, strange and wonderful things will start to happen. They happen to everyone here at MacNN who becomes "green".

My story:

When I reached 1000 posts at MacNN, strange and wonderful things started to happen. Overnight, I felt and looked better, people started telling me how much more handsome and sexy I had become, and within days I was womanizing it up with models and beauty queens. My financial prospects also improved dramatically as a result of a promotion and a hefty pay rise. I also began to carry a lot more pride. Seeing as I was now so much more sexier and smarter, respect and admiration came in droves.

So look in the mirror paully dub and say hello or as I did yo! to the new you!

However..

Once you reach 1011 or so posts, you will suddenly feel lethargic and begin to worry a lot more, the next few months-years will be filled with weight problems, relationship issues, depression, severe loss of sexyness, increased consumption of snack goods and snack type beverages ie. shakes, which will in turn bring in no particlar order, cancer, abandonment by friends and family, possible problems with the law, false refuges via drugs and alcohol and a severe decomposition of basic social skills and understandings.

All the best.

Maybe I'll retire at 1000 posts. I don't spend much time here anymore anyway...

The big four digits ain't all they're made out to be.

Neither, for that matter, are the five digits.

What kind of loser would rack up over 1000 posts on a computer forum?

From my judgement, it appears to me (of course to me, who the hell else is talking here!) that you've stopped reading before you got to the "However" part of my post.

Ahh yes the 5 digit phase. For all out there, members who do reach five digits are no longer people but online bots powered by MacNN staff to further delude us into the amazing world of many posts. Once you do reach 5 digits, MacNN automatically comes to your house, burns down your door, digs you out of the human waste pile you find yourself in connected by long nails to your terminal and dumps you (there is not much left) in a hole somwhere in Palo Alto, CA and takes over your identity for purposes of world domination.

Hmm. I may have kept typing for a few sentences too long.

Actually, China has done pretty well to get it in check. India is the one we should be worried about at this point.

No but seriously. If we live to 1000 years, does that mean we spend 900 of them as old people? Does puberty last a hundred years? And besides that, all my loved ones would have to live that long too, otherwise I'd feel like a selfish bastard watching them grow old and die and all.

I honestly don't care about the post count, since I'd been around here long enough (under different names) to no better than to take that seriously.

It just shows I've had a lot of time on my hands this last year.

If living to a 1,000 years old was suddenly available to everyone, imagine the strain it would put on the world. I wonder if people who are working on stuff like this ever consider the results of their efforts.
