"Given their record in the security area, I don't know why anybody would buy from them," the former White House cybersecurity and counterterrorism adviser said yesterday, when asked for his thoughts on Microsoft's forthcoming line of security software.

Hehe.

Neat, but was that statement given off the record by an unidentified source? I really disklike it when reporters include so many of those statements, because without an attribution the quotation loses a lot of its potency. Of course, I understand why certain individuals revealing certain nuggets of information need to be anonymous, but those are special cases. . . And with the journalism scandals of recent times one has to really take the question of wandering journalistic ethics into consideration. Don't believe everything that you read.

So Richard Clarke doesn't have a very high opinion of either George W. Bush or Microsoft?
Gee, that's... un-American.

Its not that they make insecure software by design, they just want to sell more than anyone else.
