They look a lot better than the classic Truth ads. Here's hoping that they come up with a lot of episodes.

Argh! "It might be funnier if it wasn't true"?

That's horrible. Since they obviously think it is true, they should be using the subjunctive: "It might be funnier if it weren't true."

I don't think they get it... the more they make it a bad thing, the more the "bad" kids will want it.

those pot commercials are hilarious. although I hated the Truth commercials even before I started smoking, they're just annoying.

Smoking is probably my least favorite thing in the world (you know, other than murder and stuff like that), but the Truth commercials are pretty high on the list.

To be honest I think the activist approach is really going to backfire, telling people what they should do or being a smoking-nazi aren't going to stop people from smoking, and lame commercials aren't certainly going to stop people from doing what they want either. That esuvee commercial is extremely lame too.

Sadly, i doubt that it will have much of an effect.

So you guys are saying that there's nothing the Govt can do to curb teen smoking?

Perhaps the ads should be targeted to parents?

Basically. If "it can and probably will kill you" has no effect, what else is there?

That was my first thought, too. I hate it when people do that (not use the subjunctive, that is).

Poor subjunctive, it's a mood no one seems to remember these days, just imagine how sad and alone it feels, ousted by that dominating, egoistic indicative... :'(

Godfather - No, I don't think there really is much the government can do to curb teenage smoking, bar presenting people who are caught either selling tobacco to minors, or minors caught smoking, with ridiculously high fines, say $10,000, or multiplying the prices of cigarettes by a couple of hundred. That might work, but would at the same time be completely ridiculous, and any law to put such practice into effect would never be passed.
