We, the ApfelWiki team, are looking for people that are interested in localizing/creating the ApfelWiki to English.
ApfelWiki is the biggest and most important Mac-related Wiki in German (nearly 1000 articles). The English version should therefor benefit from the well tested and refined framework of ApfelWiki as it has evolved over the last months.
The localization project is in its early stages run as a closed alpha. So you can have all the influence you can get by getting on board now.
We are using the pmwiki engine. Eventually both, the German and English wiki shoudl run as fields on the same pmwiki farm and thus share and benefit from one single wiki installtion (including updates and backups).
ApfelWiki is a completely free project. We don't do any advertising except for our domain and webspace sponsor and are not seeking for donations. All users on ApfelWiki have the same rights. We don't have any hierarchy. Actually some of the users are part of a core team that have access to some password protected sites that are necessary to solve technical issues (direct FTP access et al.).
If you are interested in participating in our project, please let us know on our forum to get access to the alpha version of the English wiki at
http://apfelwiki.de/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 (There you should first read the "How to switch to English" thread to switch the board language to English)
It would be very nice to see you on ApfelWiki!
p.s. The name of the English version of ApfelWiki is not yet fixed. It could as well be changed to a better pronouncable name in English.
p.p.s. Even if you don't want/are able to participate, please let us know what you think of it.
p.p.s. The link for the German Wiki is
http://www.apfelwiki.de, btw.
