Tony Jaa in Ong-Bak

The action... Friggin' awesome.

OK, the plot and acting weren't great, but they were better than in Jackie Chan movies, with much better cinematography, too.

But who cares... This non-wire-fu action was the best I've seen in a long time.

If the acting and plot still wasn't good how is it better than Jackie Chan?!

I just saw this last night and that dude is awesome. Many of the moves he pulls leave you wondering, "how did he do that?!" Simply amazing.

What was the last Jackie Chan movie you saw with a good plot or good acting?

Not that it matters. It's all about the action... I like Jackie Chan, but this guy is awesome too. Think of him as Jackie Chan but 20 years younger, and without the goofy look on his face.

Actually what I was saying if the acting and plot still suck like they do in Jackie movies how is this one better?

It's all about action...

But the plot/cinematography is a bit better than most Jackie Chan movies if that matters to you.

I watched Ong-Bak in a sneak preview a month ago and I liked it pretty much, although for completely different reasons. This movie is so bad that it's good again.

I haven't laughed so much during a movie since American Pie. In fact, the whole audience was laughing pretty hard. Some of the scenes are so over the top and cheesy that you just can't keep a straight face. Injecting yourself with some stuff to make you stronger is already cliche, but taking FIVE syringes at once after you got smacked down by the hero and becoming some kind of super-mutant-zombie-villain is just... whack. And better not mention the secret Thai-Boxing weed that makes you even stronger than the SMZV!

Wow, that movie was out so long ago, I barely remember it.

Amen to that. Definately one of the best. He opened the door to this Genre for those that followed afterwards.

Rotten Tomatoes: 82% (62 reviews)

Trailer at Apple

Tony Jaa interview (mild spoilers):

"Many movies inspired me. My inspiration comes from Bruce Lee, Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Pa Nai. I regard all of them as my master. From Bruce Lee I get his quickness, from Jet Li his grace and skill, from Jackie Chan his ability to use his agility and combine everything around him, and for me my Muay Thai I combine all of these skills into one. From Pa Nai I get the teachings of the Buddha and the ways of the spirit."
