It was BCC'd to you and a ton of other people. That or you are part of the mailing list (which is more likely). Even if the To: field does not include your name, you are the envelope recipient of the message (the stuff outside the headers). It has to be for you to get it.

Im blaming this on some infected PC- loving user out there. I am extremely anal about never giving out my adress to mailer lists and such. I bet that when my buddy got infected with a virus my adress was harvested. Damnit. So whats his response- "yeah I want to get a mac but for now this is OK" His infected PC is ifectious but he does nothing this makes me angry.

it's like CC but it doesn't show in the ID headers
i use it to talk to people for instance:
email a important note to my VP i will be at a meeting but I BCC the junior designers so that they know i will be out of office all in one email. my VP just needs to know i am attendiing a meeting, my JDs just need to know i am out. 1 email, kills 2 birds.

Or, when you want to send a general e-mail to family and friends (god help you if it's a forward), use BCC so that you don't give the addresses of your family and friends to other family and friends. Let them contact each other if they wish to exchange addresses.
Or, like APU, sometimes I want to send an e-mail and then a copy of it to someone else just so they know what's going on. It needn't be known to all who gets to read the mail.

SPAM doesn't even need to be in the BCC header. It's what is in the RCPT TO line when talking to the SMTP server that matters. That's how mailing lists work even though the addresses are not in To:, CC:, or BCC:.
