OK, I JUST got my PowerBook as of 5 minutes ago. That FedEx tracking is pretty damn accurate, they had it set for 10:00 AM and it got here at 9:50.

Since I briefly owned the previous model and I can tell you the immediate differences between the two:

1) No more rocking display. They fixed that. It doesn't bounce back and forth as you type or move the laptop. I noticed that on my older model and some people were complaining about that.

2) Install disk comes on 1 DVD instead of 3 CDs now. They also included (to my surprise) a separate OS 9 install CD.

4) It includes iLife '05 on the install DVD.

5) Panther 10.3.7 startup (after clean install) is different. Just changed the formate a bit, but more or less the same.

5) Oh yeah, and it's a bit more Snappy™ than the previous model with the extra 200MHz or so. (gratuitous Snappy™ insert.)

I'll post any hardware changes (like Firmware versions and stuff) but I hafta take a shower real quick, I got up super early and slept on the couch so I'd hear the door knock. I'm such a dork.

Oh... and one more thing. This screen seems perfect. No sand grains scratching it and no saturation problems that I had on my first one. PHEW! I'm so relieved.

Don't you mean Rev. C?

Sometimes the term "dork" doesn't seem strong enough ...

I don't have a digital camera and my free .Mac from work expired. Not ready to pony up $100 for email yet. So no pics, sorry.

I've never heard of that. My Rev A AlBook doesn't do it.

Man, this scrolling tackpad is cool. Aside from the scrolling, it prevents the mouse from jumping to the other side of the screen. On most tackpads that I've used that I accidently put two fingers on the pad, the mouse will jump across the screen. Now it doesn't.

Just incase no one knew, it also scrolls horizontally. You don't have to hold the shift key or whatever to scroll left and right.

You bought a new Powerbook to replace one that is just 200MHz slower? Are you made of money?
