Greetings,

Does anyone happen to know what's on the "tests" that Apple gives at their stores for potential employees?

I don't need specific questions, just curious on what they 'test' about?

Anyone here work at the Genius Bar?

I think that if Apple did piss tests they'd lose 1/2 their workforce...

Anyway, they do a roughly 1/2 hour technical quiz over the phone.

Just how technical is this test?

Not sure which test you are talking about but When I was being inter viewed for a Position at the genius bar at an applestore the Apple recuriter asked me some questions in a verbal test.

Stuff like name 3 apple utilities for testing hardware problems

Another that I remember was can the iPod be used as a bootable volume.

Plus other technical stuff like what tools do you need to take apart a PwerMac G4.

Hmm...Well, there's the Apple Hardware Test CD that came in the box, then there's the MacTest Pro CD that AppleCare Pro customers get, then there's the Disk Utility app, which would at least give you some idea of whether or not the HD was functioning properly.

That's true about Disk Utility. I guess I use it so infrequently to check hardware errors with it I forgot about it when I was asked. Didn't know about the MacTest Pro CD though.

It's a truly godawful application - it does the job, but its UI is an insult to the Apple name. And they spread it out over about 20 CDs, each of which is poorly labeled as to what machines it supports. So you end up trying about 5 CDs for each machine you want to diagnose, cursing each time you get a dialog saying it doesn't support that model.
