are you using a laptop? (does it have to be an external solution)
I ask because for cheaper than that hub you can buy a usb 2 pci card from newegg. I bought one from them last year for $11 and it works great.
Just a thought.

I really like this one from belkin. As a plus, if you have an ipod shuffle, this has a perfect dock with the two usb ports that stick up.

OMG! this one would be perfect. is there enough room for two shuffles? Right now there are two in the house and charging them both would be a lot neater with that hub. =)
would you also post some pics of your so i can see how the ports look from the back?
Thank you.

I think you could fit 2 Shuffles in there - but since I don't have one to check, I can't say for sure. The distance between the two ports on top is just a tad bit under an inch (24mm total according to my ruler), so I think you sould be fine.

I would only buy two hubs. Both are made by Belkin and you just have to choose whether you want 4 or 7 ports. Both contain TetraHub technology.
"What is TetraHub™ 4-Port Hub T4 Technology? TetraHub T4 (Turbo Transaction Translator Technology) provides you with the best of USB 2.0 and 1.1 technology in one solution! What is the difference between the standard USB 2.0 hub and the Belkin TetraHub™ Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub? The TetraHub provides 480Mbps for all your Hi-Speed USB 2.0 devices such as Hi-Speed USB 2.0 scanners and hard drives.
Unlike other USB 2.0 hubs, the TetraHub™ Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub also supplies a guaranteed 12Mbps to each port so you can connect full-speed USB 1.1 products, like USB speakers and USB video-capture devices that require full bandwidth to operate. Traditional hubs share 12Mbps bandwidth among all the ports."
The 7 port hub listed above comes with TetraHub. Belkin also makes a 4 port version:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=158932
I have both and have to say the 7 port is very nice. It's only slightly more expensive, but much more convenient.
I should also note that the 7 Port hub has two different packages. The earlier package has no mention of TetraHub, but the newer one does. I know this because they had both side by side when I bought mine. The new package also doesn't call it the Economy hub. The model number is the same on both however. Personally, I would check with Belkin to see if all F5U237s are the same or if they updated it midstream.

if you really want to go crazy and have tons of usb devices, you can stack two on top of each other, and still have access to 14 ports... sweet...

I think the problem is the card readers would have to be USB and would take more wiring to get the ports to go through the USB and not firewire.
Well that or most people have a separate Firewire hub anyway. This seems more steered towards PC users with USB and camera's.

I bought the Dome Hub. 7 USB ports and it's not just a box like all the others. Also comes with a free FlyLight which is handy for laptop users.

Why you got 2 shuffles? And do they still charge if the computer is off?

The hub's powered indenpendently from the computer (external AC brick). So yes, they will charge when the computer's off.
