Florida man finds python in the potty
Thu Feb 24, 3:23 PM ET
- AFP
MIAMI (AFP) - A Florida man got a rude awakening when he reportedly found a six-foot (two-meter) python in his potty, rearing its diamond-shaped head out of the toilet bowl.
Shannon Scavotto immediately grabbed his camera phone, snapped a few shots and called for help.
But the reptile expert from animal control was out of town and a snake rescue company wanted 150 dollars, so Scavotto decided to take matters into his own hands.
The St. Petersburg resident lassoed the African rock python out of the toilet, under the watchful eyes of his wife and three-year-old daughter, the St. Petersburg Times reported.
He then called work to say he'd be late, but his boss found the story a little hard to swallow, until Scavotto showed up at his office with the snake.
The Scavottos are trying to find the snake's rightful owner, but for the time being they have more pressing problems.
"Makes me wonder now when I go to the restroom," the newspaper quoted Sciavotto as saying.
He said he worried at first his daughter would be horrified, but that "she thinks it's funny. Today she was saying she's a snake hunter."
An experience like that would make me constipated for a decade or two.

Many snakes are great swimmers.
The typical snake-in-toilet story involves someone leaving their pet snake in the bathroom for holidays.

I used to work in a Kinko's that was right next to a pet store. Animals would escape all the time.
One time a 5 foot python escaped and wrapped itelf around the public restrooms toilet. One of our employees, a 50 year old woman, ended up screaming and running out of there with her pants around her ankles.
Hilarious.
Anyway, I ended up finding about 3 snakes in 2 years. I didn't like the people in the pet store so I would always give them to my snake collecting brother. They didn't take very good care of their animals.

Yes, so where are these pictures taken with the camera phone? That was one very brave individual.

You guys are sissies. The worst part about that, other than the initial startle (which would be a doozie) would be getting toilet water on your hands.
Pythons are completely harmless.

I couldn't find any of his cameraphone pix. Maybe he's trying to auction them off for the best price.

It is harmless. The worst thing it can do is bite you, which is not that bad. A cat's bite is a lot worse.
Maybe I'm jaded because I grew up with pet snakes, but they really don't phase me at all. I love snakes.

So ? You shouldn't be worried, unless you are a snake yourself.
