Cardinals: Ned cut after alleged computer theft

Sunday, March 6, 2005

News
Running back Larry Ned was arrested at the Phoenix airport on Friday on theft charges. The Arizona Republic reports that Ned was charged with attempting to steal a fellow passenger's laptop computer after passing through the airport security check. The Cardinals released Ned later in the day.

Views
The Cards claimed Ned off waivers last week and he didn't even make it to team headquarters before he was arrested, which has to be a new record. Perhaps someone should have notified Larry that airports are equipped with hidden cameras and are therefore one of the worst places in the world to commit a crime. Seriously, this is the equivalent of trying to steal something from a police station.
He played for the Vikings last year, had 0 carries and 1 pass reception for 9 yards.
Okay, so he's not a superstar. But even at NFL minimum salary, surely he could afford his own damn laptop.

Vice President is a common job description at banks. Once I met a Bank of America employee who had the title Assitant Vice President.

Here's the story in case anyone is interested.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. A bank vice president was sent to jail today after Binghamton police say some of the bank's computers turned up for sale on the Internet auction site e-Bay.
Authorities say 24-year-old Joseph Shay was arrested at his office at Partners Trust Bank in downtown Binghamton.

Police say Shay is the vice president of the bank's accounting division.

Investigators say police recovered six of the bank's computers in Shay's S-U-V -- which was parked in the bank lot.

Shay is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property. Police say the bank V-P was sent to Broome County Jail without bail after his arraignment this morning.

Bank officials are conducting an inventory to determine whether other computers are missing from a storage facility.

The bank's president isn't commenting on the arrest.
