I'll have to scan mine in (have standard work biz cards and also personal business cards for my freelance work).

I've seen a few cards like this and they rock. A record management company here in my town has them.

Not sure. Here's the link to that site, here, and it says metal business cards coming later this year. Laser etching perhaps?

A nice business card, is it easier to read in person?

my mom's friend who is an artist hands out slides with some info and a piece of work. typically a bad idea but for an artist its good because the curators and such use slideviewers all the time to see artist's work, so its nice for them.

They also cost an absolute fortune. At the largest quantity, they're over 30¢ a piece, and in the smallest quantity, over $2 each.

Thanks, but no thanks. I think I'll go with vellum if I want translucent.

This is the front of mine, can't find the back file right now.

It is a gloss with UV coating. Looks more burgundy in person.

coolest cards ever, and the photo really doesnt do them justice:

Two clear cheets of PVC with two colors of oil-based gel inside. Screening on the front and back so half is viewed through the substrate and gel, welded all four sides. F'in hot to hold. Come in multiples of 1500, 5 masters per 1500, about $1 each so really fairly cost-effective for a small company.

Used these at my last place...

This company makes some of the most innovative stuff I've seen, check them out, they've never disappointed me. http://www.progresspkg.co.uk

Those look great.. but i disagree with your view of it being cost-effective for a small company. $1 a peice? Too much for my (very) small company.

As I'm typing my business card is this...

Don't ask. The reason why won't even ask me why. In this state I tend to believe it's an elaborate plot to do me in for the personal pleasure of human sacrificing neocons.

well...what I was getting at really was that it's not too bad compared to a large company, i.e. needing a lot of masters.

They're actualy a bit less than a dollar now, but presentation is essential to art and if you're an agency etc then you really cant put too much money into peoples perception of you. Agency IDs and collateral are usually a lot more elaborate than anything you'd usually do for a client...# of colors, varnish, die-cuts, embossing, etc. This kind of goes in that category.

I do work for a company that makes cards like this. They are cool looking but expensive. I'll scan mine later.

These are what ours look like. These are not mine, but my bosses. Mine only differ in the name and email address. Originally, the email address and job title were to be in white, but even after three hits of white, the white didn't show up.

The color on the cards is from the paper - French Construction. Because of that, it was very easy to get three different colored cards. The dots are actually a hit of varnish and the black is carbon black. The cards are a bit thinner than normal cards as well.

Our letterhead is in the orange color, with the varnish dot pattern and logo on back, the black bar with info on the front. Envelopes are custom converted steel blue, with the black bar with info accross the flap on the back and the dots/logo on front left, mimicking the front of the business cards.

Here's mine. Used to think it was cool- but now it's getting a little old.

Back is black and silver. Front is 5 color. We print em here. I love the stock- super heavy and bright white!

Hi, the website hasn't been updated since I designed it about 7 or so years ago. http://www.impro.com

Let me know if you need any information. I don't think there is anything on there about plastic business cards.
