Yup, for those who remember back around January when I brought my PowerBook in to Apple for em to replace the HD because of clicking, unstable performance and other dying HD symptoms. Well the Toshiba HD finally died, I now have a lovely Fujitsu that seems to be doing fine... even if I'm having trouble getting some permission related stuff to work (iTunes is saying I can't add music to the library because of some permissions problems.).

But yah the guy at Apple felt so bad he offered me a free 512 megs of RAM. Sadly I already had a 512, so I'm selling it for 50 bucks to a guy on campus who regularly let me use his PowerBook while mine was in the shop that week. The only frustrating thing about it was the fact that I told them the problem and they didn't figure it out like I did. Oh well. Hopefully this HD will last a while longer

At least you were able to backup the drive, right?

For the most part, I lost a few photos, but I bought a FW cable and got most of what I hadn't previously backed up off. I have all my music (not that almost all of it isn't from my CDs). That said it is inconvenient since I left most of my software install discs at school and I'm on reading week... oh well... I'm just glad to have my PB back.

To fix the drive permission on your iTunes, you have to go to the directory and set the permissions there. The directory must have been set to "system" instead of "the mac owner".
