They were going so well with PS Elements... now it seems as if it's just a crappy windows App! They have these HUGE buttons for new, undo, redo, and some other crap that can NOT be turned off in the new version of PS elements. Not to mention it seems as if they don't even realize that OS X has things like Exposé. They have this weird tiling thing going on that just is NOT as cool as Exposé. And just... in general there's a bunch of things that make it seem like a bad port! I think the last good version was PS Elements 2. I'm glad I own a copy . Now I honestly hope Apple comes out with some low level Photo app the quality of Pages and Keynote, because to be honest Adobe is not filling that spot any more. Some decent tablet support, brushes, and layers could slaughter Photoshop. Though I don't know if they could integrate it well with iWork or would have to make their own App... but... they should seriously work on some sort of photoshop killer cause Adobe these days seems only worried about making windows Apps.

Agreed. I never understood why Apple doesn't include a basic photo editor or something along with all macs. Even something as simple as paint on the PC. They should include something like this in iLife '06.

***Off Topic***
Does anyone know of any freeware or cheap shareware that is similar to paint or something like it to use for this situation?

Ironic PS Elements used to be what I always suggested to new Mac users... now I honestly don't know what to suggest it's now turning into an App that is not so hot... this really should be a new App for iLife or something... I don't think iPhoto should be updated to go with it, but come on something for those of us with tablets. Heck the Wacom tablets available even go well with Macs, or they could rebrand em. But there's gota be something that can help.

It was SUCH a great product for a while, I'm glad I still have version 2. There is the new healing brush and junk but... dang... Oh well once they put core image support into PS I'll probably just buy the full license. I just hope they do it before I"m no longer in school.

I wonder if Apple doesn't want to upset Adobe?

Maybe Elements CS 2.0 will be better? A couple months ago the rumor sites were saying it will be announced this month.

I doubt we'll see an elements 4, 3 was released just this year, and I remember getting 2 for Christmas almost like 3 years ago or something. Least I think I did. Anyway I've been using 3 for a bit, it isn't that bad once you get rid of some of the crap they throw at you, but that top bar still pisses me off! Not to mention they have the b key cycle through the different types of brushes even if you're just going back to it, which gets REALLY irritating. That said, what the heck is with the UGLY icon on this sucker? I hated it so much that I decided to make an different icon for it, www.clayshaker.com/mbp/pseicon.psd how come I seem to be able to make a better OS X icon than the people who make the freaking program I made it in!? Gah! Oh well...

I've never really played with PS Elements. I'm a photoshop and illustrator guy... but from what Superchicken said, the interface sounds real awful

FYI Nodnarb -

the last two Mac's (17" iMac, 12" PowerBook) i bought included Graphic Converter, so Apple already does include a very full feature image app. also, the latest version of iPhoto can do numerous photo touchups. but, you still have Graphic Converter to do pretty damn much anything photoshop can do. register it, and you get photoshop plug-in suppor too. all for cheaper than anything Adobe will sell you.

You have no clue what Photoshop is. Adobe may be putting their heads up their... but the app itself has some amazing features... pressure sensitive brushes with my tablet are freaking sweet don't know how I'd do with out em. Photoshop isn't about filters and adding text to photos, it's about being able to take an image and make it exactly the way you want it to. I just wish they'd quit killing elements!
