Finally, Iwata talked about their next generation console, code-named "Revolution." He confirmed that the system is proceeding on schedule and will include both backward compatibility with GameCube and built-in Wi-Fi features. As well, Nintendo soon also will offer a free Wi-Fi connection service to Nintendo DS owners. "This is Nintendo's plan: make our existing game world better," Iwata said. "For us, this is a passion. This is a mission of adventure." Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," are being designed to deliver next generation experiences hopefully on par with its competitors.
"We're excited to be developing the graphics chip set for Revolution, which continues our longstanding relationship with Nintendo," says Dave Orton, ATI Technologies Inc.'s president and chief executive officer. "As the leading graphics provider, ATI is committed to delivering exceptional visual performance that enables consumers to interact with new and visually compelling digital worlds. ATI is proud to support Nintendo's innovative contributions to gaming."

Does this mean the price of apple products will drop.
Nintendo will still continue to support IBM now Sony and Toshiba, and Microsoft.
so 4 vendors well 5 including apple will be using IBM. More demand is needed for the IBM supply.
I hope this nintendo Revolution is completely different. Id love to see nintendo with apple do something.

Probably not. Apple is so hopelessly ddicted to uts price points that real drops in price for current models are rare. Whenever a machine would drop out of thost price points anywhere else, Apple simply updates the model rather than lowering the price.
IBM, however, is in for a frickin' planeload of cash.

I'm pretty happy with the announcement. free NDS online service... thats what will possibly seal the deal with me. Now all i want is a game like quake(quick port from N64) multiplayer to take advantage of that free wifi. Or even starcraft ? Mario cart DS on free wifi....droooollllll. Hopefully Nintendo can use it's cash reserve to bring free wifi to the revolution as well. that would definately win over a lot of consumers.
Backwards compatibility with GC... . They seem to finally get it. Now what i want is a killer demo of all this stuff at E3.
Grat work Nintendo, so far. Keep it up.

Hmm...they havent mentioned anything..... but from the rumours ive seen they are testing 2 options now:
-a single high-end PPC G5-equivalent (around 2.5-3GHz)...maybe even dual core.
-a Dual 1.8Ghz G5-equivalent system.
I think the AI in todays games are pretty good... and the physics is great. The GameCube has like a 4XX Mhz PPC in it. so i think it would be unnecessary for Nintendo to release a system that's unnecessarily souped up....lets not forget..... price is an important issue here as well.
As far as visulas, i'm confident that all 3 systems will have awesome visuals.....and XBox2 and Revolution, using ATi will more than adequate.
