Hey all,
A Japanese friend of mine has a program called the Macmillan Essential Dictionary. They bought it in Japan about a year ago.
The main advantage of this program is that when you look up a word, it gives the pronunciation for the word in both American English and British English.

But yeah.. for some unknown reason.. she got a new laptop, and the program just doesn't want to work on it.

So.. does anyone know of any other English Dictionary software which does the same sort of thing? Thanks.

Oh.. and yes.. this is for PC.. so this might not be the best place for me to ask... but worth a try.

Thanks.

I dunno about getting a British pronunciation, but www.answers.com (which Google links to with the [definition] link for each word in a query) has American pronunciations for pretty much everything. And it's free and cross-platform, of course.

i think the visual thesaurus is badass...it gives american/english spelling and i believe it has audio as well...but the best feature is the visual representaion of the words relationship to other words...i could play with it all day.

inidentally..the website has a trial...but when the trial ends just punch in a new word and you can use it indefinately.

there are several..but here's one

Well, it's just for U.S. English, but Merriam-Webster's online dictionary has audio pronunciations as well. www.m-w.com
