I figured it was a while ago I updated mine, and it was—it was all the way back in March 2005, on page two. How time flies. Time for some (belated) spring cleaning.

First Name: Janus (no change)
Nickname: Janosh (only by my dad; if anyone else does it, I hate it) (no change)
MacNN Handle(s): Oisín (no change)
Age: 25 (born 2 October 1982, if anyone cares) (no change in the birth date. The age has obviously changed)
Profession: Student; working at a travel insurance emergency call centre (work is new)
Greatest achievements: I’m a chronic underachiever (new way of saying same thing)
Fav music: Lots, pretty much everything except country, ‘dansktop’, and really hard heavy/death/acid/etc. metal. (no change)
Fav music group or person: At the moment, Sigur Rós (no change), Värttinä, Björk, Radiohead, Muse, Eivør Pálsdóttir, and many more. (mostly reshufflings of artists I loved three years ago, too)
Listening to now: Sigur Rós: Syndir Guðs (Recycled by Múm) (from Friends of the Random Summer) (obviously new)
Fav TV show: Lots, but probably Desperate Housewives and Little Britain at the very top. And Six Feet Under. (Two new, one same)
Fav Movie: Don't know. Lord of the Rings, perhaps. Or even—forgive my boundless sappiness—Latter Days (second one new)
Fav food: Chinese, Japanese and Italian (am a vegetarian). (Japanese new)
Fav drink: Milk, chocolate milk, orange juice, milk shake/smoothie. (no change)
Fav alcoholic Beverage: None. Everything that has even an infitesimal amount of alcohol in it is utterly undrinkable to me, which is also the reason why I've never been drunk in my life. (no change)
Fav book: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, anything by Agatha Christie, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. (same + HG2G)
Superman or Batman? Both are fairly idiotic, and both wear their underwear on the outside. Not a big comic/cartoon fan, apart from the classical Disneys. (no change)
Kelly, Ruben or Fantasia: Have no idea, could very possibly not care less, wouldn't know who they were if I hadn't read this thread through before replying. (no change)
Rock star or Billionaire: Rock star and billionaire, of course. (as if this were likely to change)
Believe in aliens: Yes. In a universe as vast as this one, it's just too far a stretch for me to think that only on this one little planet were the necessary conditions present to make possible some form of life. (no change)
Believe in ghosts: Not in the tradition 'haunting ghosts' way, but yes, believe in something like that. I think. (no change, though less ‘belief’ than previously)
Car: None. Don't have a driver's license (and don't plan on getting one anytime soon). (no change)
Computer: 17” 1.67GHz G4 PowerBook (rarely used these days); 13” 2.0 GHz white MacBook; Dual-Core 2.66 GHz Mac Pro with 22” Samsung monitor; and my dad’s crappy old Windows laptop in a drawer somewhere, for those rare occasions when I really need IE6 for testing. (Just had to leave in previous reply, for kicks: Vega+ P4 2,0 GHz notebook + an old crappy stationary one that I never use (I think it's a Pentium 166 or something, with 32 MB of RAM and 4 GB hard drive).)
Mac: See above
Deep dark secret: I’m really a bot. (new—I was malware last time)
Secret aspiration: None, that's one of my main problems. (no change, sadly)
Dream car: Don't really have a dream car per se (see 'Car'), but really like Audi A6/A8 and most Mercs and Beamers. (no change)
Sexuality: Gay (first one in the entire thread apparently). (no change, though it’s crowdier than it was in the thread)
Relationship status: Single. (was apparently ‘excruciatingly’ single last time around)
Height: About 1.82-1.83, I think. (no change, as far as I know)
Weight: Hovering around 69-71 kg. (Oh dear! Previous reply: “A little too much, about 83 kg”)
Gender: Male. (no change last I checked)
Religion: None, though technically speaking, I think I'm still a member of the Church of Denmark. Don't believe in any of it, though. (no change)
Role model: I don’t believe in role models, generally. (no change, really, though I gave some sob story last time)
Yearly income: Not fixed yet. About 300,000 DKK ($60,000) last year, looking to be about 360,000 DKK ($72,000) or so this year, perhaps. (up from 75,000 DKK student allowance from the government last time, when I didn’t have a job)
Cat or dog person? Dog person, definitely. I don't mind cats, but I never feel completely safe and comfortable around them. (no change)
Indoor or outdoor personality? I like being outside, but still more indoor personality, I think. (no change)
Do you consider yourself a geek? A computer geek? No, but most other people do. A language geek? Most absolutely and irrevocably yes. (no change)
Ethnicity: Danish, with a few bits and splats of Swedish and Dutch (and probably some other stuff too, but that's too far out). (I don’t suppose ethnicity is likely to change, even for Michael Jackson)
Interesting fact: I have a Robert [Danish film award - scroll down a little for info] standing in my bookshelf, which I inherited from my maternal grandfather, who was the creator and special effects designer on a lot of very famous (in Denmark) movies, among others the Olsen Banden series. (no change, ’cause I can’t think of anything else to say)
MacNN'ers in cell phone: Five. (was zero)
Disability/allergies: I used to be highly allergic to pretty much anything artificial, like preservatives, colouring agents, all that stuff. Thankfully, I grew out of it around 13 or so. (no change, still grown out of it)

Hmm … I’m going to assume (since the first names are different) that that is not you. So why is it your achievement, then? Girlfriend? Someone you discovered and introduced to the modelling world? You made the website?

Religion: Yes please
Clever.

Wouldn’t it make you more of a masochist than a sadist? The rest of us don’t mind, you know.

My first...

EDIT: My first f*ck... 12/15/03 (I realized that was also ambiguous.)

It was more the immediate (to me, anyway) association (and thence, comparison) to a certain other Clavin that struck me as being a bit mean-spirited.

I like the fact that you’ve even got the date remembered. Bedding a (budding) model at age 14 is no small feat, I’ll grant you that.

Well it is a good thing that I am not a Cheers fan!

"Couching" would be a better verb.

Oh.

I thought that as a language geek, you must surely be referring to this alternate definition:

Is anyone really a Cheers fan? Or is a Cheers fan just someone who can watch the show without wanting to bang his head against hard objects?

Of course... I though everyone did?
Uhh … well, I have no idea. I can only narrow it down to the year. No, wait, perhaps month.

I should have thought you knew me well enough not to doubt that I’d never consider a nickname named after that definition cruel (except maybe on others).

Entirely untrue. At the scale of a Bumble Bee, air takes on a more liquid behaviour. The physics works out just fine.

‘Toothpick’—what an odd first name.

Judging by the picture of yourself you just posted, I might have misjudged your age about 30–40 years. Oopsies. :[

This is just my language-obsessed self being curious, but seriously? Is it common not to know the name of the uvula among English-speaking people? ’Round these parts, any little kid will know that it’s called the drøbel.

Granting that I haven't had any coffee yet, I'm not sure I understand.

Are you saying you thought I was much older until you saw my photo (in other words, that my posts read like those of a sexagenarian) or that you were surprised to see from my photo that I am about 30-40 years older than you thought?!

I'm no teenager, but I sure as hell don't look older than 40!

And I couldn't find it, but there's a Gary Larson cartoon about the uvula. A student is sitting a medical exam. The last question is: "What is the name of that dangly bit at the back of your throat?" The student is sweating bullets.

It may be that I and everyone that I know is especially stupid, but as far as I know, not many English-speaking people know what it's called, hence the cartoon. Most people say, "dangly bit", others, incorrectly, "tonsils" and once I heard "golottis." The only reason I know is because the cartoon motivated me to do a websearch.

I found this reference to it in Wiki.

Palatine uvula - references in popular culture

It also features in a "Far Side" cartoon by Gary Larson entitiled "final page of the medical exam" where a person is depicted holding a question paper that reads "bonus question (50 points): what is the name of the dangly thing that hangs down in the back of our throats?"
It doesn't mention that the student is sweating, but he was. And the whole joke obviously rests on the idea that most people don't know what the hell it's called.
