yea so I bought this game, the only game I've ever purchased for a Playstation of any flavor. I don't even own a Playstation 2. but I got GT4.
I'm at 56% complete (friend and myself playing), we have 165 cars (so far), and it's a bunch of fun.
Photo mode basically lets you take a photo of your car from any angle, at any location the game offers. and you can do this with each and every car you own.
I popped my newly purchased(today, yay) iPod shuffle into the USB port on the PS2 and downloaded the JPGs to the iPod.
add some pics if you like. here's a few of mine:
rear shot of the Pagani Zonda supercar at speed:
rear shot of the Polyphony Gran Turismo Formula car, complete with exhaust flames belching up from beneath the car:
Dope Ass SLR. keep away from the wheels, please:

I got the game last night. It is unbelievable how amazing it looks on 1080i mode. I never thought the PS2 would be capable of something like that. It looks better that Xbox games that are also in hi-def.

This game obviously pushes the PS2 hardware to its limit. I can see some rendering glitches when cars pile up at high speed... well it happens in the asia version anyway.

Indeed, it looks awesome. I wish the PS2 recognized my SD memory card reader so I could save some Photo Mode pics. If i find a good deal on a thumb drive i might pick one up.

Do you get 1080i from the component connector?

You need the component cables and there is an option that you turn on in the game for 1080i.

What he said.
At any rate the difference between S-Video and 1080i with component is astounding.

Note: This feature was removed from the PAL version to 'not confuse users'. As if anyone who has gone to the trouble of buying a component cable to connect up to a HD compatible display (a few LCD/Plasma screens and 'Computer' monitors), is going to get confused.
also here is a pic of my Elise

Has anyone else noticed a bug where the game forgets the 1080i setting every time it starts? Each time I play, I have to go into the options and set the resolution from Normal back to HDTV. Not a huge deal, but annoying nonetheless.

Why is every single picture I see from GT4 darker than Doom3?

Ya I was about to post the same thing. Annoying as hell. I think they might have done it on purpose though in case some idiot sets it to 1080i and doesn't have an HDTV.

excluding Mediaman's, which is strangely dark, i haven't seen that at all. None of the first three pictures look dark to me. And, besides, the game lets you control aperture/exposure, so it's basically as dark or light as you want it to be.

Then I guess they made the camera modes too complex for the average joe.

mine have been photoshopped lighter..
most pics I've taken (haven't posted them all here yet) have been pretty dark, and I'veneeded to go into photoshop to lighten up the pics a bit. no biggie. I usually won't let a pic get past me without futzing with it in photochop one way or another.

I still think that whole photo taking idea is ultra-riceboy.

Why would taking photos of a race car be considered "riceboy"? That's like saying enjoying taking pictures of your significant other is "pronography"...
Just racing fans having fun with their cars on the circuit.

I guess that would make sense if your "significant other" is also imaginary.
